Smells a slight bit smokey, slight liqourice, roastiness, coffee, can’t taste any port really. I quite like port too. Very dry, a little bitter. Feel a little let down, not that keen at all. Maybe just not my thing.

The flavour is simlar to liqourice, mokka, roasted bread and it has a fine bitter ending. Jonte (816), Gothenburg, Sweden

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with a light brown lasting head. Not much aroma but some roasted coffee is to find. Tase is dry and sour with some roasted notes. I think this sample is infected, it dosn’t taste right. I’ve tasted it before and can’t recognize the taste. KnN (721), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Nice black color. Thin head with not much retention. I’m at the tale end of a cold and for some reason this tastes like bitter tonic water. The hops bitterness is there, but it is very clean for a stout. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 8, 2008 You want DRY, this is it. No vestage of sweetness remains in this irish stout. I couldn’t really notice any Port in it either. However it is a good dry stout if that’s your bag. Not heavy in palate, good roasted flavor and some nice finishing hops make it drinkable. Very nice - a dry stout with plenty of sweetness and a smokey coffee favour. A touch flat, but very nice. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Gravity cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 6th Feb 2008. I can’t believe it’s taken me 400 rates to get round to this great stout. Looks superb - a very dark ruby brown. Kicks off well with a strong aroma of rich coffee and dark chocolate. The taste neatly blends the sweetness of port with the bitterness of chocolate and the roasted malt. The palate is full but lighter than you’d perhaps expect. Overall, it’s got bags of character but can also be drunk in quantity. Recommended.
