Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA Sep 20, 2003 Updated: Oct 6, 2004This is really, really great stout. It looks perfect in my dimple mug, rocky, lasting head and purple-black in color. Lots of purple, plummy flavors in evidence, just really great tasting brew. This one actually lived up to the hype of the label "silver medal" etc. One of the best beers that I have tried for while. johndoughty (1580), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Jun 18, 2002 A dark stout that hits you with a thud.A small amount of port has been added and this gives a subtle wine aftertaste.A complex beer to be enjoyed on dark winter nights but also experienced at any other time.Dont pour it down your throat but drink slowly and appreciate the brewers art.Highly recommended. Garrat (1064), Suffolk, England Jan 5, 2004 Updated: Jan 25, 2008From a bottle.Almost black in colour with a small head, aroma is of burnt malt, taste is of chocolate and malt with a touch of smoke, light bitter finish. harrisoni (5106), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 19, 2005 Cask handpull at The Three Greyhounds, London Xmas Pub Crawl. Deep rich stout with lots of fruit. Rich, thick and gorgeous. Dry grainy finish. One of the best stouts I’ve had. Some very good sour notes and good dark fruits too. It just has everything you would want and mixes them together so well. Beer of the day for me. Darkover (1198), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 19, 2003 Almost black with some redness. Has a big thick tan head. Aroma of roast, vinious fruit and coffee. Flavor is roasty and bitter. Long dry and bitter finish. Very good.
