The aroma was very fruity, vinous, and roasted coffee. The flavor was much more present in the flavor...some coffee, some bitterness, and dark fruits. Somewhat thin feel, but enjoyable...smooth, and not crisp on the tongue...wet finish. Hangover (772), Atlanta, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2004 Pours a thick black with a frothy light tan head which, surprisingly, is lasting. Aroma is primarily sweet chocolate, coffee and cherries. Taste is pretty agressive. Probably one of the more "in your face" stouts that I have had, most likely due to the port wine. Coffee, dried fruit, dash of hops, and a slightly odd sourness which I again, attribute to the port. Not an excellent stout, but above average. Points for being unique, and a great appearance. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Aroma is chocolate with hints of alcohol and roast.
Light body with a good roast chocolate flavor with a small metalic taste on the finish.
Not bad. pintbypint (1028), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Large head, fluffy yet creamy, tan colour. Aroma has a bit of dark berry fruit in it (cherry maybe currants) , some dark malt. Flavour is malty with some dark chocolate, quite dry and roasty, late port wine notes. Finishes dry and roasty, some bitterness from roasted malts. Medium body with a tight fine carbonation. voota (765), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Black with a creamy brown head... excellent lacing and retention. Aroma of cocoa, sweet berries, raisen and smoke. Soft carbonation and smooth mouthful giving flavours of smoked wood, raisen, chocolate... the port flavour exists but doesn’t dominate as I thought it might. Medium long fruity finish, a nice complex stout. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Pours a deep garnet body with a huge, tan head that settles slow and leaves some wet lace on its way down. Muddy yeasts late. Port is apparent in the aroma and complements a base of dark, roasty malts. Tones of metallica, alcohol and some just-blown-out birthday cake candles. Flavor finds a thin stout as a rather weak base for raisins and wine. Smooth drinking, the palate is creamy with a hint of stickiness. Its good points outweigh its bad ones.

Roasted aromas as expected with hints of tartness. Tartness came through more in the flavor, but still never overtook the expected roasted and burnt malt flavors. Not too bad. Portly in colour, a lovely clear dark red. Malt, coffee and caramel with some roasted nuts in the mouth. Something sweet and akin to coca cola in the aroma. In fact its just like cola cube sweets I had as a kid. Lovely smooth palate. Red wine finish with some nice chocolate notes.
