Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Bottle from Hi-Time Wine. Pours a very dark amber/ruby color. Lightly roasted aroma with some sweetness and a slightly woody character. Very dry malty flavors with some bitterness. Maybe a little bit of port sweetness in the background.

Nearly opaque dark brown color with a thick tan head. Roasted malts and a hint of cherries in the aroma. Mostly dry roasted semi-sweet maltiness throughout with a hint of warming port and cherries in the finish. Very little complexity of flavor. A nice idea for a stout, but it could definitely use a thicker more complex body.

The addition of Port led me to expect a little sweetness and perhaps a bit more body. Nah. This was just yer basic nice roasty stout, with a good amount of hop in the finish - dry and also lingering.

RLB YEHA 05. Slightly harsh strong wine-like aroma with some fruitiness, light sulfur and rich port-like qualities. Flavor is lightly chocolate malt, with some roast but followed by an acidic wine quality. Weak watery body and a slightly harsh finish.

500 ml botle - Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. Pours a dark ruby red fading to black with a frothy mocha colored head. Slight cocoa aroma, with some wine in the background. Flavor hints at greatness at first blush with bits of port and chocolate but mellows out quickly, slighlty earthy. Some nuttiness in there as well. Mouthfeel is much thinner than I like in my stouts and a bit chalky. Still a decent stout though.

A nice smooth stout but a little thin with a watery finish. Nevertheless the flavour is very good with rich, well-rounded dark characters.

Dark ruby color with average sized tan head and plenty of lacing. Aroma is lightly fruity with port & wood, cobbwebbs and dust. Flavor is lightly sweet with an apparent roasty chocolate backbone and a not so fresh finish. Sticky and dusty on the palate, not too great feeling, have to keep swallowing. This is an average stout, nothing too great here.

Dark in colour with a thick to medium brown head. The nose is salty with some hints of malts, the taste is the same more bitter and salty. I couldnt really get into this one, may have been the salt, may have been that I am getting kind of stouted out.
