Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Bottle. Dark brown with a light brown lasting head. Not much aroma but some roasted coffee is to find. Tase is dry and sour with some roasted notes. I think this sample is infected, it dosn’t taste right. I’ve tasted it before and can’t recognize the taste.

Handpulled cask at JDW St. Albans. Brown/black with beige head. Very wholesome tasty brew with lovely roasted malts, chocolaty bitterness and a touch of port. Very morish.

Labeled as O’Hanlon’s Ruby Stout. Shared at the Lost Abbey Angle’s Share Release. Roasted aromas as expected with hints of tartness. Tartness came through more in the flavor, but still never overtook the expected roasted and burnt malt flavors. Not too bad.

Cask, Bag O’ Nails, Bristol. Colour was a ruby tinged black. Aroma had elements of malt, caramel and chocolate. Smooth and sweetish. The port didn’t really make its presence felt enough. Pretty average.

Black with medium beige head. Aroma has roasted malt, liquerice and coffee notes. Flavor is mild sweet with coffee, hard roasted malt and liquerice notes. Ends bitter.
