A sweet stout, with more the former rather than the latter, but it is very black as you would expect. No head with a sweet aroma.

Cask at JDW Briar Rose, dark brown with off white head, nice roasty aroma with a hint of port, taste is roast malt with chocolate, bitter with only the feintest hint of port, very good!

Cask at the William Webb Ellis (JDW), Twickenham, 16/02/13. First beer of the day we finally beat the crowd stealers (Tigerscum) at the Stoop for the first time in 10 years - happy days ... I digress. Very dark mahogony brown with a frothy tan head that retains well. Nose carries roast malt, barley, sugars, molasses, subtle berry fruit. Taste comprises dark toffee, dark malt, wood, nutty tones, berry fruits. Medium in body with soft carbonation, dry in the finish. Ok stout - nowt too special!

1/2 at the Tilly Stone Gateshead. Dark roby body with a beige head. Toffee aroma, lovely Garabaldi biscuit and licquorice and blackcurrant flavours. Smooth creamy palate. Very good stout

Fairly standard stout - looks great, roasted malt dominates with some hint of coffee, and then you get a hint of port coming through in the finish. Could probably have stronger flavours and be better, but still a good and enjoyable beer.

4.8%, black colour with a good head, roasted malt aroma, roasted and burnt malt flavours, not a lover of stout but this was good.
