2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
#6 - Golden Pale Ale, very mellow in flavour, 5.2% abv. The normal citrus flavours.. I do like it, however that lack of much flavour makes it something Iíd only order go with a meal.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt!
Served in my new Cantillon tulip. Thanks again Matt!
A: Hazy yellow hue with a thick, fluffy white head of just over an inch. The head fades to half an inch and leaves considerable lacing throughout the glass.
S: The aroma consists of spices, floral scents, hops, yeast. It smells very nice.
T: The taste is bready and floral, with the hop character being more subtle than the aroma indicated. This beer tastes quite fresh. Itís refreshing and light, with a healthy amount of complexity about it.
M: Thin bodied, with a bitter hop presence in the finish.
D: My first beer of this style, I rather enjoyed this.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
4.2% ABV in a brown 500ml bottle, best before 9th July 2010, drank 4th June 2010. Poured into my vase shaped pint (Old Speckled Hen badged) glass. This is a beer that is conditioned in the bottle and it was poured slowly to ensure it looked its best, without anything effecting its appearance.
Dull golden colour, firm snowy white head on top, didnít see any sediment leaving the bottle, there was a small covering in the base of the bottle.
Lager type smell (meaning not much going on), a late addition of Cascade hops are supposed to give off an aroma, these failed at first. As the beer warmed in the glass the hops began to assert themselves in the smell.
Crisp and refreshing taste, almost lagerish in its carbonisation feel and flavours. It is however an ale and a bitterness is never too far from the surface (First Gold along with the aforementioned Cascade).
A summer beer and a good one to boot.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask, gravity flow @ The Double Locks Inn, Canal Banks, Exeter, Devon.
Produces a still, hazy, sunny amber with no head. The aroma is bold, poignant and bursting with ripe and tart fruit. Sweet guava, pineapple and lychee, a little honeydew nectar and bitter grapefruit, sour lemon and vine clippings, burdy nums. So clean, so fresh, sumptuous and all the same is the palate. Quite creamy in the mouth, well rounded and defined for taste. Sweet, sour, tangy, fresh, fruity, keeps the palate-a-flutter. Touch of rose water in back towards a peak of bitter, vinous and herbal hops. From there its all fruit esters again. Such a light finish, its presence is big yet it is just a delicate and unbelievably refreshing ale. And from gravity this was in fine form, and stagger out the Double Locks I did. Bloody good stuff!
