CharlesDarwin (1336), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2005 Gitchee Gumee Brewfest 2005. A light hazy golden pour, with whitish head. Aroma almost non-existant except for some malt notes. A very dusty, almost honey gone bad flavor. Not impressive. An overwhelming number of poor Maibocks present at this Fest.
detroiter (957), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 22, 2007 Pours a clear light golden color with a thin cap of foam. Minimal lacing. Barely detectable sweetish honey aroma.
The flavors were all short-lived. It started with a powdered sugary sweetness, and was followed by a mild sweet apricot fruitiness. A mild hop tang, but no hop bitterness, showed up briefly in the finish. The aftertaste was a bit more powdered sugar. Light body, soft carbonation. An ok beer but on the sweet and mild side. robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Apr 12, 2005 Yellow/Gold Coloring with Good White Frothy Head. Sweet Malt, Fruity and a bit Tangy Aroma and Taste. Medium Mouthfeel. Pretty Drinkable and Possibly the Best OHara’s I’ve Tried Yet. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Apr 10, 2005 On-tap at Gitchee Gumee Brewfest - Golden yellow with a small white fluffy cap. Keeps a solid collar once the head diminishes.
Light but fairly prominent nose of sweet bready malts with a touch of tangy fruit.
Taste is right on for a Maibock, nice little tangy breadyness to it, sweet and doughy akin to sour dough bagels with light touches of fruit bringing very light banana and green grape.
Feel is close to medium with a lighter chewyness throughout but keeps a very healthy cleanness to it as well as some crispness.
This was very easy to put away. Nice clean profile with just the right amount of flavor. Possibly could have been thicker but was still good non-the-less.
