2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of apricots and doesn’t feel too artificial overall although I’m sure it is. If I try really hard I get some phenols, too, but only in homeopathic quantity. Taste is of peach gummies and fruit juice. Some wheat proteins. Body is light and carbonation medium. Overall an OK wheat ale but a far cry from a weizen.

Bottle - 341ml. Nice, cloudy golden body with a thin white creamy head. Lught malty/hoppy aroma with strong apricot hints. Taste is somewhat bland and lacks both complexity and strength. Ends with a short yeasty/fruity finish. Ordinary.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2014-06-22. Strong artificial seeming apricot aroma. Orange body with a modest white head. Flavour has similar strong apricot fruit, sort of floral and perfumey. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Okay, but I don’t love the perfumey quality to it. On tap at The Rhino, Toronto

Dammit. I don’t much like apricots to begin with, and Okanagan snuck this one into my mixer pack by using the extra-tiny writing. You bastards. Well, I already poured it. No head to speak of, but it does have an attractive cloudy amber colour. Smells like apricots... almost as bad as peaches. Flavour has an almost Belgian note to it, citrusy, and definitely rich with apricot... sigh. Look, this beer does nothing at all for me, but if you like an apricot beer, this one is seriously worth a try. I’d rate it in the high 1’s for being an apricot beer, but out of fairness I will give it an unbiased number...

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a hazy gold with a two finger creamy off-white cap, decent retention and moderate lacing. Nose is artificial and overwhelming apricot, with additional fruit, sugary malt, and perfume. Taste is dominated by apricot, with little or no wheat presence. Light body, moderate carbonation, semi-sweet saccharine finish.
Blah. Regardless of whether it’s actually fake or not, it tastes fake. And when I say "perfume", I don’t mean "hot chick on the elevator" perfume, I mean "grandma in the nursing home, vain attempt to mask the ever-pervasive odour of urine" perfume. It’s not quite as bad as a macro lager, but let’s face it, what is? I honestly can’t see a scenario in which I ever have another one of these, that doesn’t also involve ice-pick lobotomies.

Cheers!
