COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed by Okanagan Spring in 1989, Extra Special Pale Ale is BC’s original pale ale and first craft brand. Clear and copper coloured, it’s fruity on the palate, hearty in hops, and firm in body with a nice dry finish.

Clear light copper, small off-white head vanishes. Faint aroma of caramel and grass. Thin caramel malt taste, some light bitterness, a tad watery. Average carbonation, light bodied, low hopped. Dry finish. Plain and relatively inoffensive. Not the best example of a flagship beer. LF (Lagerboy Friendly) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A typical EPA. Not particularly flavorful, but a decent session beer. A bit bitter, but mostly just slightly sweet wateriness. Tried this in Toronto in 2013.

Appealing chestnut brown, infused with copper highlights. Non existent head. High carbonation. Sweet musky root cell odor. Yeast infected first sip, with lingering flavors of dark wet soil. Shape up or ship out you are giving the Okanagan a bad name.

Can do without this beer but best on tap at the moment. mediocre for sure and time for Okanagan Spring to revamp their beers.

En fût, robe cuivrée, arôme florale de malt, goût de houblon très frais et une touche de caramel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341 ml bottle from the lcbo Looks good big head and lots of lacing but you can tell that the clear copper colour is going to lead to a bland watery taste and in this regard it does not disappoint but it is better then most mass produced pale ales

Pours a light copper colour without head and a small ring of white lace. Aroma light and consist of sweet malt, very light hop presence slightly grassy. Taste is initially sweet, light caramel, very light grassy bitterness. Mediocre craft beer if you call sopporo owned a craft beer.

341ml bottle. Medium caramel colour, small off white head. Pretty standard malt flavour and aroma with a hint of hops. Overall, inoffensive and a little boring but definitely drinkable. Kind of reminded me of a less funky Keith’s.

Clear copper yellow colored with white creamy head. Aroma is fresh malty and taste is little bittert, with some sweet fruity tones. Short aftertaste, dry indeed. (Ottawa 201210)

Copper body very nice crown on top. Light sweet caramel aroma with floral hop hints nothing to special extremely mild but pleasant. Light crisp taste some astringent but good, mild to weak malts are tasty just not enough power behind them. There is a bitter hop finish but with no real hop flavour, I guess I can taste some citrus in the after taste. Good light beer to sit back and drink if nothing better is around.
