Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. Verging on ruby with a whitish head and bit of lace. A rich malty beer with god fruits. A long finish but it all a bit harsh on the fruitiness.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at the Cleveland Arms, London. Pours mostly clear reddish-amber with a lingering, foam head. Caramel malts in the nose. Flavor is sweet and balanced, with more caramel, toasted bread, then followed by mild, earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. The finish is smooth with a pleasing caramel character. Very nice.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2011 Cask, Kings Head, Carlisle. Light, with a toasted oats flavour. Reasonably hoppy, with a faintly metallic taste. I think more than 3 or 4 pints of this would leave you wanting to move onto something else though.
Re-rated 29.12.11 at the same pub. Really well-flavoured, lovely deep-red appearance, good hoppy tang and a long, dry finish. A real improvement on the last time I had this.

Cask at GBBF 2009. Reddish copper, lasting beige head. Sweetish bitter, touch of strawberry fruit. Bit watery in mouth. Faint spritzey finish. Neither a bitter not nor a sweetish red ale. Falls between the 2 stools. OK, if not ery interesting.

Deep amber color, small beige head. Dry woody hoppy nose. Some nuts and caramel, light dry woody hops in the flavor. Sweetish and not very exciting "red".
