Formerly called Okells Red.

Cask, Occasional
The use of crystal malts gives this beer a rich, ruby-red colour and initial sweetness which combines with a spicy, citric hop aroma to develop into a very smooth and easy-drinking beer which belies its strength. Hops used: Amarillo

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Oct 2013 during Spoons Festival - Ruby Red in colour. Fruity; citrus orange, some grapefruit. Hoppy; spicy and earthy hops. Malty; toasty malts, caramel. Good fruit/hop/malt balance. Sweet citrus fruity spicy and malty throughout. Very drinkable.

Cask halfpint at JDW, Victoria Station, London. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate but nice fruity and malty aroma. Rich flavour of ripe berries, malts and fruity hops, soft and smooth to drink, but not too sweet. Pleasant beer.

Amber, clear, dense white head, some lacing
Aroma of hedgerow fruits, berries, good aroma
Taste of berry fruits, touch of orange, toasted caramel malts, nice soft bitter malts
Palate - Medium body, good texture. Finish of soft biitter hops
Overall - Well made, soft and mellow

Cask at Tanners Hall JDW Darlington. Ruby-red amber colour, creamy off-white head leaving some lacing and aroma of lemon citrus. Taste is sweetish malt caramel with citrusy hoppy bitterness. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Appearance: Clear nutty brown color with a fine off white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Fruity, mild hoppy and mild malty.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet and a moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Caramel malty, mild hoppy and mild fruity.
Overall impression: Fresh British bitter. But expected more hoppy tuch when they have used Amarillo.
