Danish: Afløser den hidtidige portervariant på 5,8%, men stadig ”i røg og damp”-og med endnu flere finesser.

(33 cl bottle from Rúsan; BBD: December 23rd 2014) Pours pitch black with creamy, toffee head. Decent retention and lace. Aroma is roasted malt with a lightly ascerbic edge and a hint of smoke. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body and a bitter, roasted finish. It seems a bit thin on the back of the palate considering. Flavour is dark, roasted and slightly alcoholic.

Ernest (6143) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 9, 2013
Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen (BB Dec 2014). Head is initially large, creamy/frothy, brown, fully lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate), lightly hoppy (herbs), with light notes of smoke, peat, minerals, juniper. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, oily/creamy texture, soft carbonation. Surprisingly thin-bodied for its size, and it’s a bit tart for my liking, but it does have some neat smoky-peaty notes in the nose.

Defreni (2463) - Husum, DENMARK - OCT 17, 2013
Flaske: Kulsort øl med et fint brunt skumhoved. Duften er maltet men uden røg, som ellers er meget dominerende i smagen. Den har nemlig masser af tørverøget tang. God mundfylde.

SlackerMads (1419) - Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2013
Bottle. Black with a medium sized light brown head. Roasted malt, licorice, rye bread, light coffee, flowery and light herbal hop notes. Medium body, good bitterness, medium carbonation, oily texture, alcohol well concealed, dry, bitter. Certainly helped that they are now allowed to step on the gas up there in the middle of nowhere, this is a pretty nice brew and much better than the 5,8% version.

BeerParker (9) - DENMARK - SEP 29, 2013 does not count
Compared to beer-prices in Denmark the price of this was very reasonable. And if the Price/quality is a thing to rate I would give this a 9 out of 10. Strong and very tasty beer with malt and sweetness. I would buy this again.

Ungstrup (29081) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2013
Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce, leading tonandry roasted finish.

33 cl bottle at a café in Vestmanna in the Faroes. Heavy, black, almost acrid, improving as the temperature rose but lacking subtlety. More car tyres and wood than grain and liquorice.
