2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 heemer77 (5007) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - SEP 27, 2012A pillowly yellow tinted head tops a slightly hazy rich bronze colored body. Woody notes come through in the initial whiff. There is also some herbal character along with a hint of straw. This tastes metallic with lots of spicy grapefruit. There is also a little bit of soap. I am not a fan of this herbal and mineral finishing brew.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jmohno (829) - Iowa, USA - APR 13, 2013
Fairly clear darkish gold.MIld head but leaves some froth.
Mildly hoppy nose with some grainy mild sweetness.LIght spiceyness from the rye.A bit of sulfer also.Slight woody dry earthyness.
Taste is light medium body with light sweetness, some dryness and light spicyness from rye but more noticable in finish makes it seem hoppier than it is with the spicey rye dry finish.Mild herbal hop.Kind of has some rubberyness in aroma/flavor.Some minerallyness.MIld citrus in finish with some mild residual sweetness. Ok for a warmweather beer and for a golden ale but has some offness.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 bbrock81 (291) - Le Mars, Iowa, USA - JUN 1, 2012
16 oz can from a sampler pack. Pours with a large, thick, white head that leaves a thin layer on the top of the beer. The beer itself is a clear, medium gold color with a hint of orange to it. Aroma is very muted, almost nonexistent. Flavor is very dry, fairly bitter, and pretty generic. Lightly malty, not especially sweet but grainy and cereally, and a bit of a taste of corn even if there’s probably not corn in the mash. Not much rye flavor apparent, maybe a hint in the finish. Palate is pretty nice, very fine and somewhat dense carbonation. Overall pretty mediocre.
