A bit of a surprise with this one as I expected an unbalanced malt liquor style. Insterad I was mildly surprised by this beer, clearly alcoholic in nose and flavour, but not a fusel ridden mess. it presents well in the glass and has a pleasant hop and malt balance. Above average for this style and nationality (the porter of course being an exception).

Bottle. This beer is impressive for the style. It pours a slightly burnt amber in color with a huge white head that disappeared as quickly as it appeared. There is a slightly grassy, hoppy note to the aroma. The flavor is a bit alcoholic, but is just sweet and malty enough to remain drinkable. It has a medium body with a slight bite to the finish.

There is nothing too bad about this beer, it’s a little uneventful though. Better than most of the European strong lager on the shelf of the local supermarket though thats for sure. Though that isn’t saying much. Alcohol hidden quite well. Not bad.

Thought I was grabbing the Baltic Porter. Somehow got this instead. Clearly I need to pay more attention. Pours clear dark gold with a fading, lacy white head. Full body, medium carbonation. Aroma of fruit, grass, cat. Sweet fruit and grain taste, but with hints of cucumber, and a little metallic. Not really nasty, but not great beer either.

500ml bottle.
Yellow orange beer with a tall white head. Grainy sweet aroma with light alcohol and hop presence. Flavour is sweet and malty with a bit of a sour alcohol note. Not too bad in my opinion.
