DruncanVeasey (4800) - NUNEATON, Conference North, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 10, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2007 Bright gold pour with a fairly well-retained creamy head. Sweet malty snout with a sinister whiff of booze. Almost an imaginary hint of dangerous, tripelish apricot. Slightly smoky malt graininess and syrupy cardboard bitterness. Certainly not of the hoppy variety. Lingers with a displeasing chemical note. A waste of units. Girlfriend finished it, like the Foster’s ’Twist’.

Pours golden/orange with a small loose head. Sweet grassy aroma. Flavor is grass, followed by dough, and then overtaken by alcohol. Nothing special.

Golden color with a thin white head that disappeares too quickly. Low carbonation (actually, very low for this type of beer). Good smell of hops that finish as soon as the head disappeares leaving a poor scent of sweet malts and alcohol. Flavor of sweet malts, grain and some hops. Some metallic and alcoholic notes on the aftertaste. Easy to drink at first for a 7% alcohol beer; at the end, however, not so easy (50cl.). Not a bad beer, but low for a european lager.

Hmmmm. A Polish version of Mickey’s? God I hope not. Let’s see here. Pours out a deeep, rich golden color, which a huge, foamy white head with little lacing, but there was foam sticking to the glass. Aroma is was actually decent with notes of honey, some grassy hops, some alcohol burn and corn. Mouthfeel was medium in body, slightly thick and somewhat chewy. Flavor of this beer was some metal, a good dose of grassy hops, some sweet flavors going on but overall a bit boring. To be honest, nothing awful about this, but like most Euro lagers nothing really to make me take note of either. Passable beer, but barely.

500ml Bottle: Might as well finally remove this baby from the cellar. Pours gold, streams of carbonation, a head that disappeared like a fart in the wind. Aroma is very grainy, quite sweet like honey. The taste is grainy again, sweet again, but this time with a slap of nasty insta-headache alcohol. Poop.

Can. Nice golden colour with a fair white head. Aroma of a grainy alcoholic maltiness. Flavour of grains and alcohol, corn glucosis, malt with some hoppiness. Quite alcoholic sweet malty finish. Quite a knock-out brew.

(Rating #856)
