Alengrin (1715) - BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2014 Typical Eastern European strong lager with creamy, more or less stable, snow white head and golden blonde colour. Simple aroma of sweet malts, floral and grassy hops, some ’wet dog’ and, remarkably, less alcohol than expected. Malty taste, sweetish but less so than I have encountered in many other examples of this particular style, metallic, with a firm spicy hop bitterness in the end paired with strong, burning wodka-like alcohol - a disappointment based on the aroma. Wry like most of its congeners, but I had a lot worse in this style. Too bad they don’t make that Okocim Porter anymore.

Taste - fudge and sweet flour. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a very cloying finish. Overall - not great.

Can from SarkyNorthener cheers Martin; clear golden yellow pour with a substantial frothy white head, sweet malt and wet leaves aroma, taste has toffee, sweet malts, ABV is hidden by the sweetness, thought this was going to be terrible, but it’s ok.
