I like the fact that this is a stronger version of the typical lager, but it lacks the complexity and richness that is needed. It is straightforward, golden yellow straw color, with not much to offer except alcohol. Slightly fruity, crisp, but not noticeable.

500 ml bottle @ home.November 11, 2014. Beer from a pint glass. Beer was a gift from a Polish friend of mine. Dark golden color with a creamy white head and regular carbonation. Aroma is mostly malt and sweetness, but also grass and some herbs. Tastes quite sweet with a slightly bitter touch and finish. A bit alcohol in taste as well. Nothing special or interesting about this beer.

"bottle 2 Okocim tasting: really, fairly hard to tell apart from the pils but for the alcohol bite. better body, maybe, but not one you want to have warm as the alcohol comes out a little too much in the aroma. Grain and faint hops. OK."

Can 50cl traded with Jan. A golden copper beer with low head. Nose is on sweet barley sugar and alcohol. Aroma is on sweet caramel, peppery hops, over ripped apples, lot of alcohol, nothing unforgettable.

Alengrin (2351) - BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2014 Typical Eastern European strong lager with creamy, more or less stable, snow white head and golden blonde colour. Simple aroma of sweet malts, floral and grassy hops, some ’wet dog’ and, remarkably, less alcohol than expected. Malty taste, sweetish but less so than I have encountered in many other examples of this particular style, metallic, with a firm spicy hop bitterness in the end paired with strong, burning wodka-like alcohol - a disappointment based on the aroma. Wry like most of its congeners, but I had a lot worse in this style. Too bad they don’t make that Okocim Porter anymore.
