COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A classic bottom fermented Baltic Porter. Alc. 8.9 % vol., ext. 22.0P. Mature and long lagered version of Okocim Porter. Unique dark hue and a deep and noble taste are the hallmark features of the Porter from Okocim Brewery. This type of beer owes its unique character to the combination of a few types of malt: Munich, caramel and roasted. Pasteurized.

Butelka 0,5. Kolor ciemny, piana zostaje długo. Aromat karmelu i owoców suszonych .Smak słodki karmelowy, kawa, czekolada, alkohol tylko w tle.Nasycenie dobre.

W smaku tragicznie słodkie, jakby czysty cukier. Tragedia. Nie ma o czym pisać. Całkowicie nie rozumiem tak wysokich ocen.

Nice roasty aroma, really dark color, chocolate tones in taste with a low bitterness. Full body with oily consistency. Dangerously good drinkability, despite high alcohol content. Quite a good piece, for a mass produced beer.

Countbeer (5048) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 8, 2015
Bottle (50cl): Served in a shaker at 13 degrees Celsius: Small to medium sized creamy beiege head. Blackish ruby red... Aromas of malt roast, dried leaves, some hints of coffee, nuts, hay toast and some liquorice. Flavours of laurel, bay leaf, liquorice, chocolate, mocha, toffee, coffee, roast, dried leaves, leaf roast, sweet tar, some brown sugars and some prunes and raisin. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, raisin, brown sugars, malt roast, herbal toast and some liquorice. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, between medium and full bodied. Nice stuff!

0,5 l bottle Appearance: Small but dense creamy head on top of deep brown beer. Aroma: Mineral,Licoric, roast, molases, cough syrup. Taste: Sweet cough syrup, Licorice tones with molases and some minerals and dark bread with coffee and alcohol to balance it out. Allthough not sounding that great it’s the refinement here. (Yes refinement on something from Carlsberg !) that makes this beer good. Low carbonation, medium body, creamy mouthfeel but an easy drinker. Very good and to my surpise this is brewed by a Carlsberg owned place. Now let them fix the distribution (read availability outside poland) better for this one.

Alengrin (2939) - BELGIUM - FEB 28, 2015
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2015 Special version of the classic Okocim Porter, "mocno dojrzale" apparently meaning "strong and mature"... Very dark mahogany colour but not entirely black and still clear and transparent, under a milky, beige, creamy head retaining well and leaving layers of lacing on the edge of the glass. Aroma very malty and more complex than I had expected, with suggestions of caramel candy, toffee, cured meat, ruby port wine, quite a lot of iron, faint and not even disturbing accent of stewed green cabbage (probably from pasteurization), hints of burning pipe tobacco, crčme au beurre, bourbon, liquorice, hazelnut paste, overripe plums, raisins, cappuccino, Irish coffee, minerals. Sweet onset, almost candi syrup-like, very caramelly with sweet fruitiness (raisins, candied dates) probably hauling from the malt more than from fermentation (as this is bottom-fermented), sharpish but pointy, minerally carbonation, a bit metallic, sourish grainy hint as well; then a deep, sweet maltiness spreads out over the tongue, caramelly, quite nutty and a bit chocolatey, turning into a clear yet soft, subdued and creamy roasted bitterness in the end, a tiny bit smoky, with the initial candi sweetness emphatically lingering (yet somehow managing to avoid cloyingness), some grassy and slightly peppery hop bitterness creeping in as well, ensuring a sweet and bitterish finish, further adorned with a warming, bourbon-like alcohol effect. Bittersweet balance is the key phrase here: this is a very good and very well balanced example of its style, and probably the best Polish beer I had so far. Big thanks to Karina for offering this bottle, and to Sabine for bringing it to Belgium for me!
