Bottle. Dark black red pour with diminishing tan head. Smells of sugar and molasses, but tastes more of chocolate. A decent porter.

Very good, strong chocolate flavors. Fairly carbonated for a porter, but not too much. Reminds me of a Mackeson stout, with a tad less flavor and alcoholic tasting. Would drink again.

Pours near black with a mostly receding wispy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, rum, spice, pepper. Taste is foamy chocolate, dark bread, sticky syrup. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a lightly sticky carbonation. Maybe a bit sticky and sweet, but still enjoyable. Gets stickier as it warms though, I’d drink this one cold.

500 ml bottle. Now this porter has flavor. The first taste that hit my palate was chocolate, but not as heavy as say the Brooklyn Chocolate. Light brown head, nice and dark, with that immediate smoke and chocolate taste. I can already tell I’m going to like this one.

50 cl bottle, Fargo. Deep brown colour, Strong malt and alcohol flavor, Full bodied, sweet and smooth, very little alcohol overpowering as other strong porters I’ve tried. Very nice.

Feb. 2007 - Dark pour, white head, decent lacing. Aroma was chocolate and coffee. Flavor was very typical baltic porter...chocolate, coffee, alcohol sweetness. Very nice flavor, but I found this thin in the mouthfeel department, which was a detractor. Not as good as Baltika 6.

A rather dark brown with little light seeping through around the edges of the glass. Thin off-white head. Some molasses, caramel, and brown sugar in the aroma. Lightly chocolate in the flavor and a sort of sugary sweetness and a molasses finish. Not a bad deal.

Pours from the bottle a dark, opaque and muddy brown/black color. Forms an initial nice thick 1" beige head. Retention wasn’t impressive with only small islands of isolated foam floating on the surface. Moderately assertive aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, mince meat pie, anise, black licorice, molasses, raisins and port wine pleasantly greet the nose. Mouthfeel was fairly full, round and slick with a fine and subdued carbonation level. Rich and complex flavor profile is enjoyed starting off with sweet roasted malts, molasses, toffee, semi-sweet chocolate and dark rum soaked angel cake. Subtler notes of anise, black licorice candy, espresso and port wine fill in the background. Finishes with a touch of alcohol warmth. A well done Baltic porter for sure.
