COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Another, after Okocim Wheat, koneserski variant in the family Okocim, which promises exceptional taste and aesthetic experiences. By combining several types of malt, including Munich, caramel and roasted, and two month aging period okocimski Porter reached a unique dark color and a deep, noble taste, seasoned with hints of cedar.

A 0.5l bottle of pre-Carlsberg Okocim Porter, from around 1999 when it was still brewed to 9.5%. Deep dark brown with a mid-sized tan head and lots of dark sugar and tracle on the nose, plus a hint of oxidation. Initially dry and alcoholic on the tongue, then sweetening rapidly as loads of fig, date and burnt dark fruitcake flavours pour through. Some hops in the background and a hint of coffee, then a long bitter-sweet finish, still with a burnt treacle and coffee tang. Sweeter than I like, but that’s the Baltic style for you.

yea, baltic alright, even imperial if you ask me. Big dark pour from a bottle. No head, smells a little over alky IMHO. Like the big high gravity americam malt liks. It has an aroma like its gonna be strong dude. Big strong rude dark beer impy stout attack on my poor lager lovin taste buds. Lacks the gentleness of american dark lagers fer sure. Double? No triple porter. Barely any CO2 in this mouth coating medicine of a beer. Strong imperial medicine wew lingers like bad company!

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a big fluffy tiny bubbled tan head. The aroma is slightly malty, light roast coffee, touch of smoke, and milk chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. The roast is nicely balanced with a sublt sweetness that lasts throughout. Ends rather dryly and cleanly. Has a smooth velvety quality to it that is really nice. Fairly sweet and I could see how this would detract from the overall enjoyment but I actually like it as fan of sweet stoutts/porters. No real bitter or leather tastes at all. Alocohol is well hidden.

Bottle pours almost black with medium tan head. Aroma slightly sour with dark fruits and malts. Taste caramel, molasses, dark malts, roast. others have commented on the sweetness but I did not find this overly sweet, actually less sweet than the Zywiec. Finish long with bitter roast. palate thick and syrupy. Overall I liked it but not my favorite Baltic porter.

Deep reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is coffee and brown sugar. Taste is brown sugar, dried fruit, roast but cloyingly sweet. Too sweet.

Bottle. Pours a near-black body with a medium, creamy tanned head. Nose is mainly licorice notes, with hints of leather and raspberries. Taste is also licorice, with sweet dark malts and hints of maple syrup. Not too complex, but very elegant in its sturdy composition. Palate is on the smooth side, without being too noticeable. Warming alcohol develops slowly, otherwise a well-masked ABV. A right decent Baltic porter, I’d say.

Gregis (1250) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - SEP 26, 2010
Pours a dark, almost opaque, cola brown with a creamy cap of tan head that deposits solid lace upon the glass. The nose is a pleasant blend of sweet, fruity, lightly ashy, chocolate, caramel and roasted malt notes. Medium-bodied and somewhat vinous, with a fairly tart, lactose-like quality at the lightly bitter-roasted finish. While the nose reveals a Sweet-Tart like fruitiness, it’s a much bigger player in the flavor profile. A tart raspberry-plum fruitiness sits atop a roasted malt and sweet cocoa backing and a light, lingering ashiness. This is a bottle that has been gently cellared for a couple years. So, I’m curious how much of the fruitiness is intended and how much, if any, is due to oxidation. Regardless, this is some interesting stuff.
