Another, after Okocim Wheat, koneserski variant in the family Okocim, which promises exceptional taste and aesthetic experiences. By combining several types of malt, including Munich, caramel and roasted, and two month aging period okocimski Porter reached a unique dark color and a deep, noble taste, seasoned with hints of cedar.

Dark reddish brown with a light brown head that left lace along the sides of the glass. Dense malt aroma, the smell of toasted base malt is intense, giving the porter a scent reminiscent of barley wine. There is an underlying blanket of roasted malt there too, like mild coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is sweet malt and roasted malt with balance coming from the black malt bitterness. This beer doesn’t give any hint of 8%. The sweetness in the flavor gives plenty of body, but the density of the flavor goes beyond that with a nice lingering roasted chocolate flavor. This is my first true Baltic Porter, but it will bring me back for more that is sure. An excellent beer.

The body has a very dark brown color with some lighter brown highlights. Its head builds up thick and slowly settles down to thin cap that hangs on to the last sip. The head is tan in color and makes nice slippery lace that slowly slides down the glass as I drink. Its aroma is strong and has a heavy sweet and fruity malt character with a very noticeable alcohol presence in the nose. The overall flavor is very sweet with a sticky, almost syrupy texture. Sugary sweet malt with dark caramel, molasses and toffee notes dominate its character. There is a very noticeable alcohol presence in the flavor and notes of cherry cough drop with some mild herbal and leafy hops. Any bitterness from the hops is overpowered by the extremely sweet malt however. It finishes slowly with its malt lingering on the palate. Carbonation is moderate to average and it’s about medium bodied. Its overall drinkability for me was low due to its unchecked and unbalanced syrupy sweetness. The alcohol had some ruff edges as well; still this is a very interesting brew.

Bottle. Nice head. Mmm, chocolate-coated plums with the coating being of the light dusty, aged type. Cherries, caramel and some roast hidden beneath. Full body, sweet yet not cloying. The maltiness is thick in this one and the chocolate-plum thingy gets an additional kick by some alcohol notes that go really well with the rest. Chocolatey, medium bitter finish. Smooth and warming mouthfeel. It may not yet be the epitome of a fully harmonious brew but it is classy indeed.

Too sweet, that’s the biggest minus of this beer. Not balanced, probably it’s too young and after some time it would be better.

Good Baltic Porter. Pours black, with medium but short head. Aroma of chocolate mostly, with some coffee and roasted notes. It is a bit too sweet, could have more bitterness, but it is good as a first-try porter.

Porter posmakuje fanom słodkich piw. Wyczuwalna wiśnia taka bombonierka, mało goryczki jak na portera. Lekko palony i lekka czekolada.

Almost black with big stable head. Quite strong aroma of dried plums, cherries with chocolate and pint of alcohol. Taste is sweet on the beginning, but finish is semi dry and slightly bitter. It feels warming alcohol hint. Low carbonation. Close to full body. Another taste baltic porter from Poland. Recommended to tasting during long, cold winter nights.

Almost black, clear body. Nice head, but dissapears quickly. Has strong, plum and sherry aroma. Tastes malty, roasted with lot of prunes. Light bitterness which is composed very good. Also has mild taste which hides alcohol nicely. Solid porter.
