COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(English Black Ale) This obsidian-colored stout pushed the capacity of our mash tune to the limits with its huge grain bill! It looks like a one pint espresso shot; black, strong, weighty and rich, but perfectly balanced.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown pour, light tan head. Chocolate, earthy malt, brown sugar, light hop bitterness, and some roast. A pretty nice stout, medium bodied.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA as Ol’ Republic Resolute Stout. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is light smoky chocolate. Med body or better. Flavor is chocolate, definitely getting smoke - like a smoky chocolaty milk stout? Gets a bit earthy. Nice.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with an attractive tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a medium-bodied treacle and chocolate flavor with a dry finish.

"Best beer at this new brewery. Very very solid if not great. Nice aroma of coffee chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor has an ample amount of bitterness atop a good body. Solid!"

Tap at the brewery. Remember enjoying this one, especially after it warmed. Light espresso nose that moves into a very smooth slight burnt roast, but wet with malts, not being too loud ever, but on purpose. Bit of hop bitterness towards the finish. Good stuff.

On draft at the brewhouse. Deep, deep brown with brown head. Massive coffee, chocolate and licorice aroma. Very rich with full mouthfeel and nice roasted barley accents. Chocolate again throughout the taste. Dry and slightly astringent with a great bitter finish. The rich, malt aspects and the hop bitterness strike a great balance. This beer is so amazingly good -- like their Black Lager, this is an amazing representation of this beer.

Draft at the brewery. Nearly black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, burnt sugar and some light vanilla. Flavor is rich chocolate malt, bitter roasted coffee and sweet malt. Medium to full body with a creamy mouth feel. Great beer, smooth, rich and flavorful.

For the style, it is one of the best I have had. Perfect appearance, nice dark, chocolatey malt aroma, very rich body, and a very long, berries, malt, and chocolate finish. Absolutely awesome beer.
