mabel (2208), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 23, 2009 [1850-20081103] 341mL bottle. Corn vegetable yeast aroma. Clear, yellow brown body with a quick creamy white head. Floral corn yeast flavour has lots of grains. Light-medium body. Nothing special.
(@ Maxwell Plums; Halifax, NS) Beershine (2268), Bamberg, Germany Sep 24, 2008 Clear golden with off-white small head. Sweet, almost custard-like nose. Very gassy. Highly carbonated annoying mouthfeel. Strangely sweet and enters a lot dryer than it finishes. Not all that bad, a clean "grampa" beer. Parrothead (181), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice, clear golden brew with a pure white head. Nice blend of sweet malt and hops. I can’t comment on the aroma because I was drinking it in 32F weather outside prior to a charity "plunge" into the Chesapeake Bay in my Motherland of Maryland. The bottle I had was smuggled into the US from Canada by a friend.I simply couldn’t smell it - or anything else for that matter!! I’ve never seen it in the US before. Good stuff. Oh Canada! Ya’ll make some dern fine beer! JAF737300 (736), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2007 Pours golden straw with a nice with a bit of a hops hint. The beer drinks crisp and clean with a nice balanced finish. AaronBouchard (114), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada Jul 26, 2007 A Nova Scotian local favorite , it has been my dads choice of beer since the 70s.Nice golden beer! Tastes more like a lager then an ale , A great beer with a little extra zip to distinguish it from other major market beers. porterhouse (1099), Alna, Maine, USA May 11, 2007 (Bottle) Not much going on...Light golden, small off white head. Aroma has a little bread-like maltiness, that’s about it. Mouuthfeel light, a bit prickly. Taste is lightly sweet, faint breadiness, maybe a tiny touch of strawberry-like fruitiness. Was able to describe a few things here but really this is pretty bland. I love it and thats that! pootzboy (970), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Aug 25, 2006 Just retried this Blue nose beer on the Digby ferry...pretty much as I remember it:
...respectable puffy cap that lasts (heading chemicals?)...has the typical deep gold color of east coast ales...medium body soft mouthfeel...aromas of sweetness and boiled grains...mild apple tastes from Oland’s proprietary ale yeasts...but very sweet and corny...slight drying finish.
OK with fries or a pickled sausage at the pub but I would not buy it for much elese except guzzing when your hot...too pricey for what you get with this bland over processed golden lagerale
