2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 pootzboy (1284) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 25, 2006
Just retried this Blue nose beer on the Digby ferry...pretty much as I remember it:
...respectable puffy cap that lasts (heading chemicals?)...has the typical deep gold color of east coast ales...medium body soft mouthfeel...aromas of sweetness and boiled grains...mild apple tastes from Oland’s proprietary ale yeasts...but very sweet and corny...slight drying finish.
OK with fries or a pickled sausage at the pub but I would not buy it for much elese except guzzing when your hot...too pricey for what you get with this bland over processed golden lagerale

Bottled. This is some pointless beer. I can barely imagine anything so bland...maybe a hint of hop and graininess, but mostly a mild sweetness, slightly fizzy body and overall watery flavour. They should call it Oland Springs.

341 mL bottle via trade with jerc. Pours light yellow with a tiny white head that diminishes to a rocky film rapidly; lots of bubbles. Sour yeast (sweat) and light malt (grassy, grain) aroma with a hoppy nose. Light malt and yeast, grassy grainy flavor, somewhat sour and finishes with low acidity. Light bodied and fizzy palate, crisp finish.

Ahh, vitamin O. Pale golden colour, thin white head. Aroma of pale malt, some light fruity esters. Okay flavour, light maltiness with a bit of fruity flavour. Actual perceptible hop character, mostly fuggles (this is a bit deal in Atlantic Canadian-brewed beers). Moderate bitterness. Better than I remembered.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 1, 2005
Bottle. Yellow body, small white head. Touch of sweet malt and a surprisingly high amount of alcohol in the aroma. Mild bitterness in the flavour over muted grains. Lingering sweetness in the finish. Average palate. Pretty dull.

On tap in Halifax. Yellow, with fruit tones. Small head. Very refreshing. Not sure what makes this work, but it was good. One of the better Nova Scotia ales.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Sanchex (224) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 8, 2005
Candy apple scented head, strong peachy flavour, with a smooth finish and no aftertaste. Definitely one of the weirdest beers I’ve had. Very light yellow color, little head, no enjoyment. Cheers!
4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 NSBoys (12) - Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 15, 2005
I used to be a Keith’s boy, but once this stuff hit my lips, i’ve never turned back. Great with anything and everything. A1
