Schroppfy (1725), Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2003 Caramel, but also a good, and subtle, hop presence in the aroma (flowers, hay, fresh pencil shavings). Flavor follows naturally from the nose - great slightly slippery body, great noble hop action. I shoulda got a growler but my allowance wouldn't cover it. brownalegirl (199), Fountain, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2003 My choice of the OB brews, this one is maltily delicious, but better is the texture - it has a gentle and satisfying silkiness. It's the only cloudy OB brew and the clouds suggest the texture nicely. hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2003 OK, a little about this establishment. It feels like a trendy, lower priced seafood place out east atmospherically, but it's unusual dog theme makes it really stand out. Grand Haven is a touristy world and this place draws them, but in a fun rather than kitschy way. So this beer. It also could seem gimmicky, but the quality of the goofing around is superb. It lacks some of the body that saved the lighter brews, but it has a heck of a nice set of flavors and is complex enough to be an experience, offering a bit of spice and some interesting bitters swirling cloudily with its sweets. It finishes with a lemony tang that makes me nostalgic for Boyne River Brown. Sob. Ah, the perils of rating several beers into the game!
