4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle (2011 version) @home. Pours black and thick with a dark brown thin-ish head, superb lacing. Nose is chocolate, red wine, oak, vanilla, sherry/port, dark fruits, cherry, plum and licorice and i would imagine many more that i just did not get. The taste is more of the same, the alcohol is big but its warming not burning. It has a sweet but not overly so finish, hugely complex but with a balance that is wonderful. In fact this could have just been a one word comment, Wonderful.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Consider me highly unimpressed. The nose has a nice richness of cocoa/roast but the flavor is really heavy on oak and fruity notes, making it kinda a confusion of a thing, like a dark Belgian strong ale that sat in a fresh oak barrel with some cocoa nibs. But the flavors aren’t nearly as pleasant as I’d hope for in a really fruity stout like this. Huge thanks to CGarvie, as this was a longtime megawant and I’m extremely grateful to have tried it, but it’s definitely not my thing.

Flaske 0,275l. Gave fra Fin&Loz. Svart. Flott mokkafarget skum som varer en liten stund. Ingen lacing. God aroma av mandler & frukt. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er syrlig frukt, sjokolade og lakris. Innholdsrik. En ekstra porsjon sjokolade i avslutninga. Veldig bra øl - som hadde eldes med verdighet: Drukket 3 år etter utløpsdato. Kveldens høydare. Another thank you to Fin&Loz. Deltok med denne i Mass Online Tasting 3 Des 13.

Bottle shared at Scopey’s 5000th rate. Wanted to try this for ages so cheers to Paul for this one. Pours black with a very sticky tan rim. Nose is pure dark chocolate, sweet vanilla bean, balanced liquorice and loads of dark fruits. Taste is fudge like caramel and chocolate with some spice, aniseed and doughy bread. Plenty nutty with nice oak characteristics. Touch boozy with a dry and powdery feel to it. Very clean and smooth finish. Very nice

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 on the bottle. Pour is jet black with a small amount of very tight caramel brown head. Nose is full and well balanced, lots of oak with hints of vanilla and a nice brownie batter aroma. A bit of booze in the back. Taste has much less barrel, a sweetness in back that wasn’t there in the nose. Light wood, some rich malt mid palate and berry sweetness takes over. Very full bodied with a boozy finish linger and fairly assertive carbonation. Quite a dry finish with a touch of sweetness lingering.
