4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of Leighton THANKS. This is a fantastic beer. Aroma is rich chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, light toasted coconut. Taste is pretty sweet and rich but does not come off cloying. Reminds me a bit of Marshall Zhukov with oak aging. Taste is just packed full of flavor with brownie batter, fudge, raisins, and nice bourbon. Fantastic beers and one of my favorites.

2010 bottle thanks to Scopey. Pours inky black, small brown head. This is a stunning beer. Amazingly well crafted in every aspect. Complex malt profile, chocolate, burnt sugar, caramelized, figs, molasses, oak and vanilla notes, both in aroma and taste. Velvety smooth mouthfeel, perfect level of sweetness, only little residual sugar, dry mouthfeel. Actually eather similar to Mikkeller George Bourbon Barrel Aged. This. Is. Marvellous.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2007 vintage. Thanks Gianluca! The pour is dark and black with a very small tan head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, big coconut, old cognac, very subtle hi ya of smoke. The taste is sweet most with just enough bitter to balance. The mouthfeel is incredibly smooth, the body is huge and the finish is huge. Wow.

Bottle from Scopey. 2010 version. Cheers Paul. A thick Black almost oily pour with a tiny Dark Brown head. The nose is pretty vinoes with heavy wooden notes. Choco-chips and mild vanilla notes adds to the sweet side. Brown sugar and a touch of Highland whisky. The mouthfeel is both creamy and oily. Lovely. The taste is clearly like a traditionel imp. Stout with fine salty notes and impressions of oily riggs, hardly roasted coffee and brown real toffees, caufing medicine topped with a deep malty and roasty bitter feeling. A finish that is long with a picking attitude from the alcohol. This is a beauty. Would love to have a few of This one in my celler.

250ml bottle 2009 sent by Agnst in Secret Santa - huge thanks as this has been a big want for a while and so happy to get to try this. Pours a viscous black with a thin brown covering that ends up as a ring around the glass and a puddle in the middle; yet with a small swirl a gorgeous creamy head quickly appears. Charred malt, chocolate, anise, tobacco, some dark berries, bit of campfire smoke. Moderate to low carbonation with a full body, more dark and somewhat overripe fruit, sherry, becomes very dry, tangy fruity malt. Very happy to have tried this one.

Old tick. Sugar and dark fruit on the nose, continues in the mouth. Plum pudding, molasses, dried fruit, dark berries, hint of spice. Oily mouthfeel, hardly any carbonation. Good but I found it a bit one-note, to be honest.

Maybe a bit too thick. Medicinal. Dry heat. Sappy treacly cake. Still young. Needs lots more time. Two years at least.
