275ml bottle at home. 2012 vintage. Thick black colour with deep tan head. Aroma has toasted malt and chocolate. The taste has chocolate too but with drak fruits.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2014 275cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours a pitch black oily beer with a dark beige head which last a few minutes. Aroma is powerful malty dried (dark fruits). Much more rounded that the standard version but with no oaky hints to hint at being barrel aged. Hugely skilful arrangement of flavours and predominant sweetness which complements the massive mouthfeel perfectly. Hugely impressive and one of the best imperial stouts I have tried - in fact probably the best non-bourbon barrel aged one I have tried. Close to perfection.

Like pitch black in the glass. Small head. A small lace that stays. Good roasted and smoked malts, the smoke is not to present, what makes a big plus for me. Good bittersweet.

Pours with a brown lively head that dies down to a foamy layer. Aroma is coffee, dates, figs and chocolate. Taste is chocolate, dates, roast malts and light coffee, caramelised sugar with a slight tartness. The mix of tart and sweet makes this very more-ish. Delicous.

Bottle from Beersiveknown (European swap 7.0), thank you Steve. Pours dark brown color, dark beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel, plums, roasted malt, alcohol, sweet. Taste is sweet, coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, plums, bit overcarbonated, raisins, dark fruit. What a beer, sorry Cuso, I "had to" share IT with my sister. Great sweet coffee finish. Very enjoyable beer.

Oh, well hello bottle of 2011. (Thanks Colin!) A: Dark black color with a cappuccino head. N: Coffee, molasses, cocoa, char, campfires, milk chocolate, some bandaid/phenol. Licorice as well. T: Smokey, sweet, and not much bitterness otherwise. M: Oily, heavy body. Carbed just enough to stop from killing the palate. O: Huge IRS with substantial smokiness - which I very much appreciate. A bottle of 2008 Abyss was opened in connection, and the two are very similar in profile and texture. So good; I would like some more, please.

Rating #1200. Thanks to Theydon_Bois for trading me this. Looking forward to try this beer. Pours black with almost no head. The aroma has lots of roasted malts, some vanilla, toffee, lots of dry oak, liquorice, deep sweet figs and dates and I wanna say sweet bourbon but it is probably the oak and the sweetness which is messing with me. Taste is quite roasted, yet sweet with notes of dry wood, deep oak, caramel, toffee, vanilla, leather and overall slick as well. Really a good beer that is unique in many ways!

2011 bottle Pours pitch black with a dark, short lasting, fizzy head. Aroma is both dry and sweet and burned sugar, wooden notes, vinous fruityness, toffee, light roast, hints of vanilla, salmiak and licorice. Very complex aroma for sure! Not crazy powerfull though. Massive taste with sweet toffee, wooden and roasted bitterness, slight milk chocolaty sweetness. Very sticky and full bodied. Medium carb. Really nice and complex beer!
