Aroma: intense chocolate, dark cacao, sweet, ripe berries, black forest cake. Appearance: black, no head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: dark chocolate continues, very sweet, cacao, very light coffee, soft carbonation, full body. Overall: exceptional Imperial Stout, chocolate flavours in aroma and palate are remarkable. Bottle from the brewery via Eebria, Diss.

January 31, 2015. Bottle at home, vintage 2012. Received in a trade with Beersiveknown, thanks Steve!
Black with a very small brown head quickly dissipating. Aroma is dominated by wet oak with chocolate, soy, vanilla, licorice, dark fruits and hints of peat in the background. Taste is medium sweet with dark fruits, vanilla notes, bitter chocolate, salty soy and licorice notes. The wet oak notes takes over in the finish. Medium to full bodied, average carbonation. Too heavy on the oak treatment.

273 ML bottle Thanks to Owen for sharing this. Motor oil black, thick and vicious, dark leather head, good retention before falling to a collar. No lacing. Nose is Toasted oak, toasted vanilla, dark fruits, chocolate marshmallow, fudge, ash, burnt rubber, and roasted malts. Oak is very in your face. Taste is lots of dry, toasted oak, toasted vanilla, dark fruits, ash, tires, burnt malts, leather, fudge and marshmallow. Very drinkable though. Hides the ABV well. Massive Oak bomb and the character from the barrel. Quite drinkable though. Prefer the Regular version just a tad bit more but this is excellent

Bottle at home, 20th December 14. 2012 Vintage, this poured a surprising large head, the beer is black. The aroma gives ash, some barrel, liquorice, leather, good. Taste is smooth, and the palate perfect, plenty of the oak comes through, and the taste is ashy, slightly smokey, leather. Very good and far superior to the un aged version. Will save the other bottles for a few years.

2012 bottle. Lovely rich, viscous pour with smallish tan head. Oak, dark berries, cocoa, boozy richness. Hint of coffee. Vanilla, oaky mellow choccy. Smoother than any other stout ice had apart from maybe Speedway. As good as I’d imagined.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. Pour is pitch black with a small beautiful tan head, reminds me a lot of thick dirty motor oil. Nose has loads of cocoa, vanilla and some light ash. Taste is super smooth! Again some cocoa powder, vanilla fudge, light licorice, some tar. ABV is super well hidden, really good stuff!!

275ml bottle at home, 2010 vintage, courtesy of Alex (Nightfall). Black color with very nice frothy creamy brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, chocolate and coffee, wood notes, rum like light alcohol, dark fruits - prunes - raisins. Taste is sweet and bitter, like the aroma but slightly better, chocolate again, light coffee, wood ad dark fruits. full body oily to creamy, soft carbonation, nice roasted malty finish with chocolate coffee and fruits. I drank the whole bottle in 10 minutes and I want more! thanks Alex!

An excellent craft beer from Old Chimneys but not in fact my favourite from the must try Eebria case. The aging does do wonders for the beer, but not imho the best in England. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2011 vintage, 275 ml bottle courtesy of DocJitsu (Thanks Dennis!) . Pours black with a thin tan head. Oily with decent legs. Dark brown hues. Aromas of big bourbon and oak. Dark Fruits, char and barley. Taste is a bit more subdued than the nose suggests. Sweet molasses, dark fruits, bourbon, dry oak, char.....almost more in barley wine territory. Slightly hot finish, moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation, medium-heavy bodied. Really good stuff.
