2006 vintage Bottle. Massive thanks to Fin. Had this for my 36th Birthday. Black with a tiny ring of white head around the glass rim. Aroma of port. Taste is also of fortified port and Pontefract cake. There are some dark fruits and dark treacle in there too with a touch of alcohol. Oily on the palate, sticky. Excellent.

Aroma is inviting, complex malty, dark roasted coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla, oak and bourbon, just lovely this one. Taste is smooth, light sweet malty, thick as soy sauce, low carbonated. Lovely malty overall, oily mouthfeel, some wood towards the end, well hidden alcohol, a true dessert beer.

275ml bottles(4 of them)shared at our Beer Club, cheers and thanks to Roberto.31st march.2010 vintage.Poured a nice deep pitch black colour with smallish tan head.Aromas of chocolate and oak detected with some liquorice hints.Flavours of chocolate, oak, liquorice, vanilla, coffee, toffee and some smoke detected during the tasting as palates put the flavours into some sort of order.Roberto and I both wondered if this one would stand up to all the hype. The answer was a big Yes,this is indeed a great Imperial Stout.

25cl bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks mate. 2009 vintage. It pours a pitch black body with a thin tan head. Bold oaky, chocolatey nose. Rounded out with bacon, coffee, brown sugar, port, caramel and licorice. Medium-full bodied, silky smooth, with a clean, lightly bitter bite in the finish. Very fine brew, but I’m not sure I like this so much more than the base version.Truth is, these are both stellar!
