4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fatherís Day weekend 2008 gift to self, part 2. 275ml bottle, brewed 9.11.2005, with a major thank you shout out to cgarvieuk for this special beer! Pours a dark brown/black with a foamy two finger cinnamon brown head, minimal lacing. Aroma is quite heady and enjoyable, with rich milk chocolate, espresso, molasses, vanilla, brown sugar, oak, and some dark fruits - very nice. Flavor dials the intensity up a slight notch to maintain attention, but doesnít move into being overdone. More milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, espresso and dark fruits. The thick and creamy mouthfeel does a nice job of accentuating the blend of flavors. Well done all the way around, and a very enjoyable beer. Thanks again Craig!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A smooth charcoally, ahs, whisky, alcohol, sticky, chewy beer. Those were my notes. While drinking it, I thought....above average, not bad. But at the end, I wanted more. Something about this beer clung to my taste buds making me crave for more.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black, virtually no head but what head there is is a deep reddish brown. Oily and syrupy, this beer has a very thick liquorice character to it, quite resinous. Iím sure it could be used to preserve wood; itís kind of like a consumable version of creosote. Very interesting and very intense.

275ml bottle courtesy of biggsbowler. Thanks Randall! Been hunting this one for awhile. Pours black, small off white head. Nose is amazing with bourbon, sherry, port notes and chocolate with a hint of biscuit. Flavor is silky smooth, with hints of smoke, chocolate, whiskey. Palate is full but not boozy in the least. This is an amazing beer.

Wow. This is something else. The aroma is very interesting. Reminiscent of whisky; oak, spices and alcohol. The taste is chocolate; whisky, leather, roasted malts, herbs and spices. A really fascinating beer.
Iím pretty blown away by how epic this is. Itís probably the closest thing that the UK has to a true Belgian quad. High praise indeed. A mindblowing classic beer. I am loving this. Thanks for the persistant recomendation from The Cad; Mes, Reakt and anyone else Iíve forgotten.
What took me so long??? I donít know....
