4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the brewery. Poured an oily deep mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, liqourice, and initially slightly hop medicinal too. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich creamy liqourice bitter slightly fruit palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation. A superb beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2013 Thx! to Kraddel. 275 ml. bottle split by 3. Lot 514. BBF 03.2014. Cute label, diff. than the pic. here. Pours black with only some mocha bubbles on the sides. Nose is incredibly heavy on soy sauce & gravy with some light sugar & yeast. Taste is more bitter soy sauce & gravy, soy sauce dominates everything with a light Terikyaki, bitter roasted coffee, very syrupy, liquorish, alcohol comes through clearly. I am also getting some booze, bitter herbs, forest bark & wet earth, bitter herbs, faint mushroom, forest,... Very syrupy, light carb. Luckily the soy sauce subsides a bit when warmed up & you get some brambleberries & touch dark fruits. This is definitely unique but a bit too much for me & too much soy sauce etc. Expected a bit more from this one honestly. This one beats higher rated “Reserve” in my opinion but in both cases, there are a lot of other RIS I would rather be drinking instead of these two. Still happy to have tried these two finally.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Room temp bottle BB May 2015, 9.6%. Pours with an absolutely huge tan head, which settles over a few minutes. Smell is chocolate and toffee, some strawberry maybe. Body is medium, carbonation is medium but high for the style. Taste - well rounded, soft and chocolatey. Alcohol isn’t noticeable at all. One of the smoothest imperial stouts I’ve tasted I think. Very good

275ml bottle, lot. no. 463, many thanks to Fin&Loz and Isobel for the beer gift. Bubbly, brownish head reduced to a remaining layer. Jet black body. Sweet aroma of vanilla and dark malts, a bit port-like. Confectionery taste supported by dried fruits like figs. Roasted chocolate ending. Smooth, almost velvety, in the mouth. Full bodied. Enjoying (shared with Finn at a drinking session in Tromsø, 01.10.2013).

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Wonderful beer. Lots of roast and chocolate and toffee. Opaque brown other a thin head. Notes a little tang on the finish. Picked up at the brewery on a trip from Norwich to Cambridge. Well worth the effort to find the place.
