bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Nose is a huge chocolate bomb with a little bit of tobacco. Pitch black in color with a medium brown head, leaves a film on top and a ring clinging to the edge, very fine bubbles. Taste is decadent like dark chocolate with just a touch of coffee and roast to dry out the finish. A light tartness in the finish as it warms. Very light, very smooth alcohol warming, all pleasant. Truly a great beer.

GlasgowTAD (286) - Glasgow/Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - MAR 4, 2015
Pours an opaque black with a large, consistent mocha head which recedes to a bubbly lacing within 5 minutes. Aroma is roast coffee, caramel and a hint of alcohol burn on the nostrils along with some figs. Taste is dark berries, figs, raisin, slight liquorice and slightly smoky. The alcohol warmth makes you wish you had a fireplace to sit next to. Full bodied and very rich.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2015 Bottle from Eebria [100115]
Pitch black, dirty tan frothy head, good lacing
Aroma of rich dark malts, mellow roast, savoury, yeasty, bit meaty
Taste of rich deep dark malts, mellow roast, dark fruits, rich dark chocolate, figs, really rich malts, not demanding
Palate - soft carb, full body, very smooth, rich dense texture, fairly sweet. Finish as main flavour, dark dense fruity malts, soft alcohol
Overall - Very well made impy, smooth, superb palate. I think I prefer this to the Special Reserve which I find a bit over oaky (but considerably more complex) , but will be doing another rate of that to decide whether its better or not

Thanks to Owen for sharing 330 ML bottle 2012 vintage Black pour, some ruby highlights, light tan head that falls to a thick collar. Some spotted lacing. Brilliant nose, licorice, dark cherry, dark chocolate, roast, tar, burnt tires. Highly complex nose. Taste is just as fun. Cherry ripe, dark chocolate, roasted malts, tar, tobacco, tires, and some ash. Full bodied, chewy, slick and oily. Light carbonation. Brilliant imperial stout

Dark opaque brown, thick set body with no head and oily lacing. Slip of liquorice, soft roast and tarry black pepper. Real thick mouthfeel is impossible to escape, rich thick tarmac and soft dark choc. Earthy and a little brighter sweetness than I remember. Soy tang towards the just but brown sugar sweetness.
