No bitterness. Just a porty malty cream with a light toffee note. Very tasty without being overpowering.

Bottled. A deep red beer with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel and nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as lighter notes of oxidation and nuts, leading to a dry and slightly oxidized finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Lot Number 1075: Dark brown. Sweet figgy malt aroma with plenty of alcohol. Taste is thick, plummy, leathery and sweet, like an expectorant. Slight dry finish. You could go on for quite a while noting the flavour hints that emerge as it warms in the glass.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 Cloudy copper with a lasting ivory-coloured off-white head. Aroma of toffee, biscuit, dried fruit - a lovely Christmas pudding. Sweet and rich malty flavour with toffee and biscuit, some dried fruit, and warming, vineous alcohol

275ml bottle purchased at the brewery shop. Heavy opaque cherry pour, beige foam collapsing to a broken rim in minutes. Nose doppelbock buttery red fruit and marzipan, lots of alcohol and almond. Indescript buttery cherry booze, alcohol-packed but not unappealing. No aged, vinous or oaky tones. Wholemeal and liquorice emerging in the nose, sugar like Kasteel. More doppelbock or barley wine than old ale; extruded rabbit food cereal crumbs, caramelised demerara sweetness, Battenburg cake. Some old leaves in a plastic bucket. If this was in a can and I was sober Id probably slate it. Alcohol bullying any soft red fruit into submission. Not the best of my Old Chimneys box. Im going to bed.

Thanks to Phil l for bringing this bottle to the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire Fest 09. Lovely red fruits, gorgeous, not much carbonation, but lovely strawberry jam. It is very drinkable and quite glorious. Bit sour. Lovely red soft fruits.
