hughie (3994) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2010
Bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. Lot Number 218. My bottle gives ABV as 4.9%. And very good it was too. Dark brown. Complex and evocative aroma of apples, ash and composted leaf mould. Taste is very gentle and autumnal, full of apples a little past their best, bonfire smoke and gradually developing sweet malt. Only a little carbonation. More bottled beers should be like this.

wickedpete (634) - Lexington Park, Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Dark brown to black body with a fluffy head that lasts through the first few sips. The aroma has a bread and caramel quality. The taste is light, faintly bitter, with a slight metallic bit toward the middle. There is some cereal and a bit of roast in the finish. It’s easy to drink and refreshing.

thewolf (9992) - Kolding, DENMARK - JAN 28, 2012
Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours deep brown with a medium, light fizzy, off-white frothy head. Aroma has great malty character. Milky chocolate, soft liqourice, slight bit of toasted caramel. Hops are mild grassy and there is a soft black currant note to it. Highish carbonation, fine grainy creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is mildly sweet, caramel and milky chocolate dominate. Light salty liqourice as well. Not the longest finish, but otherwise a very solid beer.

Bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge, purchased & consumed 27-03-10 I seem to be following Hughie at the moment I think about 3-4 recent ratings including this have been after Bedford’s finest. Pours dark brown with a slight haze and a light beige head. Thre is a good aroma, its like that just being brewed smell, some yeast also noted. Malty, rustic and earthy with just a little smokiness popping up. A8 A4 F6 P3 Ov14 3.5
