Dark brown to black body with a fluffy head that lasts through the first few sips. The aroma has a bread and caramel quality. The taste is light, faintly bitter, with a slight metallic bit toward the middle. There is some cereal and a bit of roast in the finish. Itís easy to drink and refreshing.

Aroma: very malty, caramel, toffee, bread. Appearance: clear, dark brown, small head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: remains quite bitter, dry, grain malts, soft carbonation. Overall: OK ESB, nice aroma, palate somewhat boring. Bottle from the brewery via Eebria, Diss.

Half-pint, gravity pour out of a small plastic ípolypiní at the brewery on 3rd Jan 2015: a free drink as I perused the shop/office shelves for the bottles I wanted to take away (12 actually). Ruby brown in colour, clear and clean: off white head with some lacing on the stemmed glass it was offered on arrival. The aroma was of caramel type malty molasses and some red berry/hedgerow fruitiness. The taste was also malty sweet and fruity with red berry to the fore. Very pleasant after a four hour drive and a beer I would happily drink again, and again.

Nocturne (970) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 25, 2014
500ml bottle. Between brown and amber. Orange peel, grass, flowers, plum, chocolate, tobacco, leather. Dash of American hops I think. Thereís a lot going on. Taste is more old world, and not quite as good. Plum, leather and tobacco feature. Caramel and nutty maltiness. Kind of oily feel to it. Wins points for keeping me on my toes until the last drop.

stravale (2370) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - DEC 22, 2014
Bottle from Eebria [181214]
Caramel ruby brown, clear, frothy off white head, slight lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, red berries, slight strawberry, soft sweet hedgerow fruits
Taste of fruity malts, as aroma, red berry malts, soft hops, light strawberry, soft flavours, nice fruits in this
Palate - Medium carb and body, bit too fizzy, soft sweet. Finish of soft sweet fruits
Overall - Nice fruity malts in this, bottle was a bit fizzy. Probably better on cask.

Bottle that I picked up Summer of 2013 at the brewery. Pours a beautiful scarlet amber red. Really nice off white head. Aroma is slightly malty. Flavor falls somewhat flat. Was expecting more. Thin bodied. Decent beer.

Clear deep red - amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and mildly crisp. Mellow tangy malts, whisper of dry cream. Dried fruits bring more tang. Light semi dry finish. Is this the same brewery the makes GKHR? Hard to believe.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the brewery via Eebria. This was a bit of a gusher. Not hit the ceiling intense, but the stuff oozed aggressively from the bottle immediately upon opening and I lost about 200ml - some of which made it on to the dining table and some on the floor - before the gushing stopped. The beer is actually pretty good, not infected or anything. It pours clear, reddish brown with a creamy beige head that quickly fizzles away. Lots of bready malts in the aroma, some pleasant, semi-ripe berries, toffee. Medium sweet flavor with nice brown bread, some caramelised sugars, plum, cherry raisin, minimal bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet and bready on the finish with further ripening fruits, berries, plum, moderate toffee and caramel, just suggestions of leather and earth. I actually really like this one. Itís kind of like a session port of something. Shame it gushed.

500 mL bottle from the brewery by mail, poured into a pint jug. Very dark brown with a small head. Nice chocolate stout aroma. Pretty tasty, a fair beer.

500ml bottle from the brewery via Eebria. Pours clear chestnut brown, thin off-white head. Good toffee and floral hop aromas. Taste is nutty and more toffee. Light spicy bitterness. Medium body, slightly sticky texture and a ight sweet finish. Nice.
