COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Third in our series of single malt/single hop beers.
Brewed exactly like the Single Malt Saaz and Single Malt Liberty, using only Vienna malt but this time the hop of choice is the UK Fuggles. This hop was cultivated in England from a chance seedling and has long been associated with English ale brewing. It is primarily an aroma hop with a mild and pleasant aroma and flavor. Many English brewers use it exclusively as an aroma hop in conjunction with high-alpha acid hops to attain the hop profile they desire. We used it for all hop additions in this brew and it is fantastic. It finishes up around 5.1% ABV.

LilBeerDoctor (3505) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2013
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of light fruits, bready malt, earthy hops, floral hops. Flavor of bready sweet malt, light fruits, jam, earthy hops, very light grassy hops. Light, slightly sweet, easy drinking. Decent APA, not terribly hoppy, but the subtle hopping adds an extra dimension to an otherwise boring beer. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Draft. Pours cloudy, deep gold with thin white head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is muted; some sweet malt, straw, and earthy hops. Flavor is average sweet malt, average earthy hops, and light esters; dry finish. Medium body with low carbonation and warmth.

Tap. Pours lightly hazy amber with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is fruity esters, cookie and biscuit malt, and floral/pine hops. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

kramer (5108) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Tap, brewpub. Pours a clear dark amber body with a one finger fizzy off-white head that fell to a thin covering. The nose is pretty light, just a bit of floral hoppiness with a bready and biscuity malt base. The flavor has just a light bitterness, lending the overall flavor to lean towards the malt. Slightly sweet and doughy with a bit of toastiness on the finish. Light to medium bodied, a touch clingy, with fizzy carbonation. Not a bad beer, but my least favorite in the series. Fuggles doesn’t do it for me in a single hop role.
