COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep gold in color, our pilsner is a Bohemian pleasure. Brewed with the finest European pale and Munich malts, it has a medium body and smooth malt flavor. It is served unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Often attempted, but rarely perfected, this pils reaches a level of drinkable perfection. Santo Viejo pairs well with sausage, pizza, shellfish and poultry. Winner of USBTC’s best Pilsner of the South 2008.

Draft @ brewpub. Gold. Nose is grassy hops and seems more full-bodied than the later already with deeper malt and higher IBU. Delicious lingering bitterness. Impressive and sessionable.

On Tap at brewery. Pale yellow, decent head. Floral aroma. A bit too sweet, with a cream corn component I didn’t care for.

Sampler. Not bad. Refreshing taste, slight hoppy. Golden color with nice head and lace. Slight fruity aroma with hints of hay.

Draft at the brewpub in Old San Juan. Pours a dark golden yellow color with pale yellow hues when held to a light and a one finger frothy white head. Good retention, only slowly fading into a lasting ring that laves sporadic spots of lace behind. Bland aroma with hints of slightly toasted biscuit malt and toffee. Slightly earthy/grassy with subtle earthy pine hop character. Medium boded and fuller than expected with a nice crisp hop bitterness up front that lingers throughout over a sweet malty backbone into a long dry finish. Slightly earthy with hints of grass and straw along with some subtle light fruit, mostly apple and pear. This is nicely balanced by a toasted biscuit malt presence making this beer decently quaffable. The best of the three beers I had at Old Harbor.

On tap at the brewery. Cloudy golden in color, and a bit hazy. A fluffy white head atop. A bit sweet and floral, chalky feel to this one and a light hop presence, malt flavors in finish.

Draught @ the brewpub in San Juan. They served a five sample. Small bubbly white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Clear golden color. Aroma of light dusty grassy and floral notes with what appeared as a hint of butter. Mild malty notes over the palate. Light bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Light bitter and sweet flavor. Light bitter dry finish. Ok but again nothing spectacular.
