Mediocre pils, but light and relatively refreshing on a hot San Juan day at least. Finishes a little rough. Meh.

Bottle. Clear gold with a short white head. Aroma is fruity in the way of Cascade hops (pineapple, apricot, melon). Medium-light bodied, sweet with moderate bitterness. Noticeably rough and a little silty / yeasty in the mouth. Juicy-fruity and tropical with medium to high finishing bitterness. Seems decent enough, maybe not lagered long enough given the roughness but the hops certainly show, I don’t pick up any fermentation problems, and the bitterness is palpable. It’s a little too fruity-tropical with a pineapple gelatin candy note that I’ve experienced before in American-hopped German Pilsners, but compared to what else is available in Puerto Rico it certainly has merit.

Tap @brewpub. Hazy orange color, medium-sized off-white head. Grainy, a bit sticky aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Grainy, sweetish malty flavor with light spicey German type hoppyness in the finish. Quite typical brewpub lager.

This selection comes originally in draft and now, bottled. The review is for the bottled version. The flavor is refreshing, as a German lager should be. The hops are subtle in the mouth. I perceive a light difference between the draft and the bottle, I guess I prefer the draft but this one is good also. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz Bottle, purchased at the brewery. Mineral, salt, mangrove, and almond aroma. A little messy. This wasn’t quite as all over the map as I thought it might have been. Some moderately fresh pilsner malt flavor, some warmer fermentation products, a generic green bitterness, and low alcohol presence. It really feels like a "brewpub" beer with some house yeast character adding some sulfur and vegetable flavors mid-palate.

Malty aroma with delicate hops. Slightly hazy with a thin head. Very nice, smooth beer though not as crisp as I'd like a pilsner. If this is considered as an island pils it's great and I would drink it every day. Falls a little short as a continental pils though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

In short: A bland golden-blond beer of some kind. Meh.
How: Tap at Pizzeria de Pirilo, San Juan, PR.
The look: Clear pale golden, body topped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is very discreet to say the least, light cereals presence, light fruity and grassy hops notes. Taste is just as low-profile as the aroma. Some cereals, a bit of honey, light fruity flavors (citrus fruits, apples), ends with shy grassy hops. Carbonation is a bit too much, almost like a soda-pop. Extremely boring although nothing offensive per say. With its mouthfeel, fruity esters and everything this beer doesn’t even feel like a lager. I thought that maybe there was a freshness problem or Pizzeria de Pirilo were not treating their beers properly, but then a few days later I was Old Harbor beers directly at the brewpub and realized this is just a shitty brewpub. I had many Old Harbor beers while I was in PR, and all I can say is the brewer of Old Harbor and I have one thing in common, apparently we both don’t give a shit about the Old Harbor beer.

Pint on tap at Caribe Hilton. Golden with a lasting ring of creamy bubbles. Nose is sweet corn and dry grass. Tastes of caramel, dry grass and a hint of corn and lemon. Medium body has low carbonation, is well balanced and finishes crisp.

I preferred Coqui. Low carbonation, slight cereal with some mash malt. Finishes a bit sour with small bitter note. Sticky consistency stays on tongue. Low carbonation. Tap at brewpub.
