Bottle. Simply didn’t enjoy the hops on this one. Just astringent bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured copper amber colour, slightly hazy with small foamy head. Mostly malt aroma, but as it warmed, had more of a noticeable sweetness to it. Full malt flavor, with very slight sweetness and decent mouthfeel. For me, it had a very harsh bitterness which is the style, but a little too much for my liking. Other than the finish, overall very good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
341 ml bottle in an OCB 6-pack from LCBO (as Elora Special Bitter), served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Slightly hazy deep amber with a decent off-white foam.
Aroma: Actually fairly nice (surprise!), a little nutty, fairly fruity, some nice dank hops, a touch of cat food, a little brown sugar and caramalt as it warms, nice.
Palate: Medium body, fairly full and aggressive effervescence.
Flav.: Nice pine, grapefruit and dank hops, very American, restrained earthy/nutty malts with some bread crust and a touch of fruitiness, more APA than EPA than ESB, to my palate, a pleasant surprise; dry with good bitterness and a hoppy, slightly malty finish.
This is very drinkable. I’m quite surprised, given Trafalgar’s track record.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours deep red with good size, lingering foamy head. Sweet caramel malty aroma. Graininess comes through in the mouth. Toasty, almost burnt notes in there. Pretty potent hop bitterness to finish but no real hop aroma. It’s sweet-grain-WHAM-bitter. It’s got intensity, but it’s astonishingly non-aromatic.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle, 5.0%. Strange fruity aroma. Orange amber colour. Very small white head. The flavour is also strangely fruity, has a slightly rough bitterness. Seems a little oxidised. Slightly slimy mouthfeel, low carbonation.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Clear bright orange amber with a fast fading white cap. Aroma is weak caramel and cooked carrots. Flavours are again weak caramel, vague fruit undertones, and an earthy/leafy note in the finish. It’s like this beer (and the Oak-Aged Rye from the same brewer) is being played an a volume of 3 out of 10-- someone needs to turn up the volume man! This is WEAK!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
22 oz. bottle from LCBO. Nice, pleasant, unchallenging ESB. Would make a decent session beer, but I’ve had better.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bouteille. Petite mousse blanche sur liquide orange clair. Le nez capte du malt caramel et peut-être des effluves de pain. Présence de houblons floraux. Le goût est celui d’une bière faiblement houblonnée avec un petit goût de caramel. En résumé, ordinaire.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle [650ml]. Pours a slightly hazy, somewhat flat-looking, orange-copper with a spare diminishing bubbly white head. Slightly mild aroma of bready malt, fruit, some light sugary sweetness and a decent amount of floral hops. Flavour of caramel malt, floral hops and a surprisingly bitter finish (for Trafalgar) -- yay, it’s not infected! It gets a bit watery and lifeless after a while though. Average bodied. Honestly, this isn’t too far off of the style, I expected it to be awful and it’s actually pretty decent.
