COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imported Saaz hops contribute a delicate aroma to this delightful beer. Light in colour yet complex in flavour, Grand Lager was developed to be the perfect beer for a warm summer day. An excellent compliment is spicy foods

Bottle, 4.0% as Trafalgar Grand Lager. Vinous and mildly grainy aroma. Clear golden colour. Very small white head. The flavour has a good maltiness, distinct paper and vegetable notes. Not as bad as it sounds, though.

Clear amber with very little head. Some bread malt with a dry finish. Not terrible. Better than most buck a beers.

473mL Can in the LCBO OCB discovery pack. 4%. Clear yellowish pour with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Mild retention. Aroma is grassy and sweet, with no ’Saaz’ hop aroma to speak of. Taste is mild sweet malts, fairly grainy and otherwise devoid of flavour. Very boring, and very bland in the finish. I wouldn’t pair this with food, though I might drink it on a patio if nothing else suitable were offered.

Cannette 473 ml. 5%. Couleur jaune assez foncé. Mousse blanche. Arôme de foin, malt et un peu de houblon. Légèrement sucrée en bouche, notes de houblon floral et finale avec une amertume honnête. Rafraîchissante.

Can LCBO OCB Sample Pack. Pours golden yellow with frothy, quickly disappearing white head. Bitter grainy aroma. Pronounced carbonation. Somewhat bitter taste. Nothing special.

Can. Solid golden pour. Skunky hops, slight spruceness. Very manufactured aroma. Mild bitterness. Smooth lager, but has an unfortunate underlying astringency.

Can. Typical gold appearance and everyday lager profile of refreshing hop bitterness balanced by malt. Bitter shower curtain swells towards the finish. Slightly better than average but still not up to European lager standards.

473 ml can from LCBO (part of OCB Discovery Pack - 5% ABV). Pours a clear gold with decent white head. Grains, grassy hops and a metallic fruitiness in the aroma. Taste is fruity, moderately sweet, grainy with some grassy hops in the finish. Slightly on the thin side. Pretty underwhelming.

473 mL Can. Yellow-gold body with a fizzy-rocky white head that settles to a wispy ring leaving spotty lace -just enough that I could justify giving it a 3 for appearance. Aroma of grains, a hint of yeast, grassy hops, and a metallic note. Astringent hops overshadow the light malts in the mouth and there is a metallic aftertaste; I wouldn’t call it Eau de Hamilton Harbor by any means but if it could be deducted, this beer could score better on my chart. Light malts and an astringent hop note linger in the aftertaste with that same little metallic note. I guess it will do if there is nothing else for a hot summer afternoon. I’d like to see an unpasteurized bottle-conditioned version of this one.
