PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada May 6, 2009 341ml bottle. This is amber brown colour in the glass with a two inch, foaming, doughy head. The aroma is very herbal, grassy with something like dandelion. The mouthfeel is medium in body, a bit creamy. I taste brown bread and caramel in the malt with more grassy, herbal hops, some water. cfrancis (293), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada Feb 17, 2009 Reddish brown colour, with a barley nose. Taste is hop and barley with nut. A little different but not noteworthy. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 8, 2009 Updated: Jun 8, 2009Bomber from LCBO, noted expiry is May of this year. Medium density pour and very moderate carbonation with a ruddy brown coat that is clear and deep. Nice aroma of roasted malt and caramel - malt has pleasant wildness. Taste repeat of aroma with the malty farm character caramel and a hint of hops. Very pleasant ale. Good feel and finish, balanced, showing no flaws. *** SLIGHT RE-RATE ** the 341 ml bottle from the OCB PACK NUMBER TWO is pouring almost a gusher head and has a more acidic aroma and taste. It’s halfway to a flemish sour like Petrus Oud Bruin - slight unintentional bacterial infection here, and while this bottle is interesting others may be worse so the brewer clearly has no control of what they are doing and rely on luck, Minus 4 overall, minus 1 each aroma and flavor. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Feb 5, 2009 650 ml bomber from the LCBO. best before april 2009. pours dark ruby with minimal carbonation and a little tan head. aroma, INFECTION. sour abrasive spoiled beer. flavour, INFECTION. sour, rotten, spoiled beer. stupid trafalger, right when i thought you had this thing figured out. i will be returning this bottle and luckily the LCBO is very accomidating about these types of situations. Strangebrewer (208), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Jan 27, 2009 bottled. Poured dark reddish-brown with tan head. Roasted, nutty aroma. Medium mouthfeel.. Smokey, hint of coffee and bitter-sweet chocolate. Dry finish with a little alcohol aftertaste. JohnBarleycorn (390), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 12, 2009 Bottle. Impenetrable dark brown. Nice nose of chocolate malt, brown sugar and caramel. Appealing, rich body with good length and an enjoyable gritty texture. Well-balanced flavour profile features rich malt, molasses middle and refreshing bitter finish. A good brew, especially for a Trafalgar. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Jan 8, 2009 Bottle courtesy of matt7215. Pours a mahogany red with a thin white head. Smells of roses, sweet malt, citrus. Tastes sweet and caramelly with a full bodied spicy finish. AWS9 (221), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Dec 26, 2008 341 ml bottle from OCB Discovery Pack. Pours a nice reddish brown, with a decent beige head. Slight spicy malt aroma. Grain, spice, and malt taste. Some hop present, but more would add some needed bitterness, as it disappears quickly. Actually a fairly enjoyable beer, though I am a sucker for irish ales.
