Dark body and fairly flat (no real carbonation). Aroma of dark fruit and woody nuts, taste of watery chocolate malt and fruity nuts, quite a watery bodyfeel. Slightly bitter aftertaste for a mild. Traditional and not very exciting.

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’12. Chestnut colour with no head. This proved to be quite a fruity mild, squishy berries, blackberry with a sweet malt background, some toffee, some vanilla. It’s ok but nothing more.

Gravity cask at the Pig’s Ear Beer Festival, 2010. Pours dark, ruby-brown with no head, really. Light, toasted malt aroma, some hardness and nuts. Has a light malt flavor, faintly sweet, with hints of plastic and nuts. Light bodied with no carbonation. Some light, bready malts in the finish, with earthy bitterness and hazelnut notes. Nothing special.

Cask gravity at 3rd Wellington Beer Festival ’09, Wellington Arms, Bedford. Very dark brown. Small off white head. Cheesy aroma. Taste is ashy with sour milk and pencil lead. Well, it’s a mild, though not very ’traditional’.
