COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like all good stories, Old Mout Scrumpy is part rogue, part hero and the stuff of legends. The most enjoyable part of any story – is in the re-telling. Old Mout is made from whole sun-ripened fruit.

rather sweet and artificial tasting, gets overwhelming when you’ve got a 1.25L bottle to down. dries up perhaps a little but is bland, sickly and pretty bad all around.

Bottle - Clear and extremely pale coloured. Medium to strong carbonation. Alcohol flavour comes through. Fairly average.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow. Sparkling after a flash of white mousse. Very sweet apples with some skin and wood - a little less than suggested by the aroma, but enough to dry it out a little. Alcohol hidden. Rather bland.

Love the new label.
Pour is lively. Clingy, large bubbles slowly break away and rise to burst loudly from the surface. I have never seen a cider so pale, so translucent it is almost colourless. There is wood, alcohol spice, soft earth and a little hessian on the nose. Apple core and peel also but the fruit is subtle, subdued. Alcohol is hot and the first swallow brings rough woody notes and old soft cheese to linger. Fruit is sweet, tangy but restrains from being cloying. Light plastic note and clapped out astringency on the swallow does nothing to help it. The nuances on the nose nowhere to be seen in the flavour. It is fairly one-dimensional to be brutally honest. A candy-like fruit flavour almost reminiscent of Starburst fruit chews also linger long after each sip. Not my thing at all. More a sweet sparkling wine than a strong cider. (33cL, no date stamp, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)

Bottle from Mane Liquor. One of my favourite ciders. A very classy all rounded scrumpy. At 8% is super easy drinking. Fruity apples on the palate with a slight sweetness coming through. Finishes quite dry and it all works well with the spritzy carbonation. Great

so this cider is a fairly carbanate cider and is sweat but unlike the aspall its not as easy going down but still caries a nice fruity palate with it which is good

Bottle. This Cider is quite sweet, leave you with a dry aftertaste. Low carbonation. Not a bad cider but not my favorite either. I like my ciders dry.

Bottle @ home

Not very enjoyable, to say the least. Pours a typical pale golden colour, no head. The aroma is somewhat artificial, nothing really notable. Overly carbonated, and lacking any real distinction in flavour - a bit acidic unfortunately. I wouldn’t go out of my way to try it.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2010 330ml bottle. Pours a clear, very light straw yellow, with no head, and some trailing bubbles. Very faint apple aroma. Initial bittersweet apple flavour, fading into a ripe apple-skin finish. This is an average cider, but the finish and lingering aftertaste are a bit odd, and ruin what was otherwise quite a pleasant drink. Incidentally, labelling this as a scrumpy cider is inaccurate, as the flavour lacks the hallmarks of a proper scrumpy. An acceptable drink - take it if it’s offered to you.

Bottled. A light yellow cider with a huge but fast collapsing white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol and acidic apples - almost lemony. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus, apples, and a bit of wood, leading to a lightly tart finish.
