3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Poured a rich, deeper brown with a short-lived tan head. The aroma picked up sweet and buttery chocolates, vanilla, and molasses with a touch of cola on the edges.. cake-like and enticing. The flavor found more molasses and some black patent maltage at the core.. sweet milky chocolates and rolled oats on the edges.. finished sweet, but with a fine complement of roast and alcohol warmth. Medium-bodied with lower carbonation on the palate.. balance was solid, but it couldíve used more bubbles.. Iíd gladly drink more.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wash. DC tasting.
woot, some tasty treat here.
dark brown color, perfect tan head.
aroma, ark malts, some light elements adding for a nice milky-like nose, fruity with some sweet notes.
flavors, deep malty flavors, coffee and espresso flavors with moderate touch of milk-chocolate, cocoa nibs.
A lot going on here, palate is smooth and creamy with a nice lingering coffee/espresso finish.
Some faint bitter hops peek through here and there, but overall this is one delicious sweet stout.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 30, 2010 Courtesy of northernbrews
Bottle: The aroma is a really nice combination of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla cream, and faint coffee. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head. The flavor starts with chocolate and roasted malt. The chocolate intensifies in the finish along with vanilla cream and a hint of coffee. Medium bodied with mild carbonation and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Very tasty.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from SL. The appearance was deep dark black. The aroma was chocolate, dark fruits, anise, faint roast. The flavor followed with licorice and some smokey/char elements. Mouthfeel was full if not a bit acidic. Overall, a bit bitter to astringent even, lacking the oatmeal bite in the best of these, although others with me liked it a bit.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing this suprisingly tasty treat. Pour was dark as night with nice boozy and chocolately aroma. Flavor was smooth sweet chocolate malt, with nice rich oaty/graininess. Some roasted malts provided a nice finish to the experience. One of the better "nonimperials" out there. Darned good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 ounce bottle. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with a half inch tan head. Head retention is low, but thereís a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of coffee and molasses. The brew tastes like roasted and burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and a bit of an herbal flavor that I canít exactly identify. The aroma is sweet but the taste is mostly roasty and bitter, more bitter than I would expect from an oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit creamy and has good carbonation. Drinkability is OK, itís easy enough to drink. Not a bad overall brew, I think itís worth a try.
