COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Old Schoolhouse Brewerís Reserve, waxed bottle and wicked stout flavor. Deep, dark, and complex with layers of caramel, chocolate, and roasted malts. Very rich with high alcohol and plenty of hops to balance out the loads of malted barley.

Bottle . Couple months old. Pours without much head and little lace. Aroma is strong dark chocolate and roast with some caramel sweetness and dark fruit. Flavor follows suit with more sugary simple sweetness and bitterness, appropriately balanced for a imp stout. Feel is soft, kinda flat, soapy, sticky and woody end. I donít like the feel really. Other parts are nice but it feels too thin.

12/17/2013. 22 oz. bomber. Pours black with a tan head. Lots of coffee aromas with dark fruit and roasted malt. Caramel, chocolate and malt flavors with hints of coffee. Smooth, long finish. Very good.

Bomber with a nice wax top. Black with mocha head that completely disappears. Chocolate, anise, semi-sweet and partially roasted malts, boozy. Bitter with a mild carbonation and moderate+ body, dry, chocolate, more booze, some bite on the finish.

Bottled: um, earlier? Pours black, little foam formation at all. Smells of toasted/burnt malts, some licorice, hints of graham, some malt (like whoppers malt), some sweetened bakers chocolate. Taste matches with depth and a little higher on the burnt malts end - almost a bit of smoke character in here, which normally Iíd dislike, but here plays well. I really dig this, but in a fetish way. Itís unique to me, although some reviews say itís a beer theyíve had before. Iíd like to compare this to Bellís Expidition Stout, but itís not too licorice characterized, which I dislike about Expo stout, but this is a little more subtle and accents well. Full bodied with low carb and an almost dry finish. Nice beer. I think treatment in a port barrel or an addition of buterscotch character would really, really open this up to the midwest flavor profile. A little too robust for the national masses.

A pretty good RIS. A bubbly head, and lacy, on a black body. A dry bitter finish.A big aroma. A tad mould in the taste mid sip.

2012 bottle. Pours deep black with a dissolving head that leaves a slight lace that hugs my glass. The aroma is of cocoa, carmel malts, and roasted malts. The flavor is of roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, carmel sweetness, medium bitterness, and booze. Overall a good drink to sip but not a quick drinkable beverage. The finish was a tad bitter and of more booze than I tend to like.

Bomber. Poured rich, viscous, near black with a sticky orange-ish beige head. The aroma was on the sweet side with roasted coffee, cocoa, and some treacle leading.. traces of peppery warmth around and on the back of the nose.. just what I needed. The flavor found well-roasted, near-burnt coffee and cocoa notes at the core with coffee roast, peppery alcohol, and some sour medicinal character around (not infection-like, but it just seemed a little messy at times).. finished warm, roasty, and dry, with a bit more sourness than I wanted. Heavier-bodied with the right carbonation to keep it moving.. not a great flow.. overall a solid stout that wasnít far from being great.
