A classic robust American porter with generous amounts of Northwest hops and a smooth, chocolaty, roasted finish.

A malt forward nose - sweet malts, chocolate, and a hint of dark dried fruit. A dark brown pour with a mosly lasting small tan head and some lacing. A nice, but not over the top, chocolate taste up front with a sweet malt and roasted meat notes in the middle with a nice hoppy bitter finish. Medium-light bodied with flat carbonation. Overall, I realy liked this porter. It was smooth and easy to drink. I wish it had a slightly fuller body, but the taste more than makes up for the my palet issue.

Draught at WA Brewers Festival, 2014. Pours a dark brown color with a small head on it. Nose is roasty and fairly light. Taste is also quite roasty, with a good amount of chocolate in there. Feels nice and smooth. Me gusta mucho.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and some dough and light bitterness. Flavor the same, but the chocolate and roast are more apparent on the finish than up front. Average to smooth texture. A pretty good porter.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a one inch light tan head that lingers. Pleasant chocolate and coffee aroma. Tastes of roasted malts, a hint of cherry, dark chocolate, a bit of an earthy quality, and a mild bitterness. Medium body and low carbonation.

22oz bottle consumed on 8/30. Reviewed from notes. A: Solid black with a thine creme lacing. Looks fairly viscous, actually. N: Deep whiffs of chocolate/fudge and coffee. Molasses. This is truly rich in the nose with some good bark, leather and earth. T: Coffee forward with light peppering. As pronounced as the fudge is in the nose, this leans more towards the sharp and bitter in the palate. More of the earth and leather and pine bitterness lent from the hops. This reminds me a bit of Hair of the Dog Adam, actually, only lighter. M: Acceptable. Dry with a medium level body. O: A decent stab at the style. Not resounding praise, perhaps, but this is a beer you could have when you just want to drink something without worrying about the profile too much. Average is A-OK.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 7/26/12

Aroma: The nose has roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, and hints of fruit, earth, and ash
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head and some light, spotty lace
Flavor: It tastes medium-plus sweet, with lots of malty flavors, eventually leading to a late bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a soft carbonation, and a smooth, dry roasted mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I found this to be a quite solid Porter. The combination of the sweet malt flavors and the later bitterness worked pretty well in my opinion. Everything about this one hits the correct marks without really hitting either the good or the bad extremes.
