On tap and The Old Toad in Rochester. Poured dark ruby brown with a beige head. Aroma is almost all caramel. Medium body. Very interesting flavor. Sweet caramel, graham cracker, kettle corn, roasted chestnut, earthy, woody. Pretty original I thought, and very enjoyable.

Hand derawn sample at Autumn Festival of Ales - French toast on front, hops on back. Novel, but I’m not sure when I’d want it. Breakfast, maybe.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap: Dark amber brown color with a small tan head. Aroma: Smokey nuts, hint of malt. Flavor: initially a nice roasted nut taste that broadens to malt sweetness and later a bitter aftertaste. Has a medium body and a pleasing mouth feel, but doesn’t really excite the palate. Average for a Nut Brown, one of Custom Brewcrafters best.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Growler from the brewery. Pours chestnut brown with a one finger tan head. Aroma of sweet, smoked nuts and a mild hoppy spiciness. Flavor follows suit with smokey maltiness dominating, but a definite sprucey hops character is there, along with a mild earthy richness. Moderately thick mouth feel, smoothly carbonated.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amazingly, almost zero aroma from the tap pour. Taste is hazelnut, wood chips, pretty buttery, slightly bitter and sour.
