12oz bottle pours amber with lasting tan head of foam. The aroma is a little nutty, a little dark spicy bread and then a mild mix of cherry and cherry tartness as well as minerals. The taste moves from a bit of malt and nuttiness to tart cherry notes and minerals. This one isn’t coming together for me.

Draft. Poured a clear ruddy light brown color with a light tan head. Subdued nose with whiffs of soy, grass, toffee, and toasted bread. Medium bodied and sweet with burnt caramel and toffee flavors.

Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours clear reddish copper color with huge tan head. Toasted malt aroma with some sweet fruitiness. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Craig.

The Irish Red Ale started out alright, but that’s only because I hadn’t tasted it yet. There was barely any head to speak of and minimal carbonation to support one. The liquid was a clear mahogany base with deep raspberry highlights. Very sparse lacing followed an even thinner line of tiny white bubbles around the edge of where the beer met the glass. There was nothing impressive to report to the point where it looked watered down. ---
The smell was very...boring...and almost musty. There were a few malts, toasted caramel, toffee, and some very light, faded grassy hops. That’s about it. I really want there to be more, I want to write about the different scents and how they play together, but I can’t because this beer didn’t give me anything to work with. Again, nothing impressive. ---
Then there was the taste, which is where I only managed to get through half of the bottle before I decided it wasn’t working out for me. Despite it being just as watery as it looked, it was tart and flat. There were a few more hops than malt on my tongue, the reverse of what was in the nose, leaving it more bitter without a whole lot of sweetness. There was a hint of something that wanted to be toasted caramel, but it fell dreadfully short of that aspiration, right into the complete lack of carbonation - hence the flatness. In its defense, it is quite easy to drink if you can ignore the smell and taste, or if you’re drunk, but there is absolutely nothing exciting or memorable about this beer.

Pours a nice reddish brown cherry color. Mild floral aroma somewhat fruity, still pleasant. A light thin flavor of dark fruits. A nice clean date aftertaste. Glad to finally try a bomber of old world, go local. A worthy effort still expected a more hoppy robust red ale.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dionysus (1443) - Arizona, USA - AUG 29, 2010
Bottle pours red-brown with an off-white head. Aroma is burnt caramel with some light grassy/floral hop notes. Flavor shows pretty much the same. Not bad compared to the last 2 I just had, but this is still a little thin.

West USA trip 2010. Bottled. The aroma hs caramel and some grassy hops. Clear, brown coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is a bit swet, some grassy hops there and caramel malts. Dry finish. Okay.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 GKillian (525) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 21, 2010
Pours deep amber with no head or lacing - looks flat. More of a malty aroma than expected with a floral aroma lurking in the background. Taste is the opposite, with a hoppy bite offset by the malt. Tastes flat, too.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 GreatLibations (1831) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - JUL 1, 2010
In Ronald Reagan’s voice..well..she pours more brown than red with a modest English pancake that lingers. Smells about right with malty overtones. Medium nectar with good carbonation. Theres a defined tartness about this brew that keeps me from enjoying it. I do however see the style in shadowed nuances but the tartness kills it. The finish is...well...tart.
