COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dear Raters! This was our first ever beer... and a beer born out of madness!!! I had just lost my whisky job and was going crazy with nothing to do... and I had always been frustrated in Scotland that I couldnít find a beer that matched my other favourite activity... which is whisky drinking. So like a crazy person I thought why not start brewing it... and not in a small scale either... why not get a brewery to contract brew IN 3000 litre batches... WORTHY RIGHT??? So our SPA was born. She is a bit of a marmite beer... some of you love her... some of you hate her... but until you have paired her with a dram you wonít know her full beauty. There has also been a lot of evolution with her... 1.0 was just Challenger and peated malt from Ardmore Distillery... 1.5 we added heather honey and toned down the peat... 2.0 soon to be released as The Old Worthy is dry hopped with Amarillo... (only on cask for now)... a labour of tough love... but I and the boys at Old Worthy Brewing Co donít give up easy and this wee beer is at the heart of everything we do... So are we CRAZY or WORTHY? Want to geek out with us or just join for a beer or two and tell use how we can be better brewers - we are always looking to be better!!! Feel free to drop me a note at nick@oldworthybeer.co.uk or follow us on Twitter @oldworthybeer Always be Worthy! Best regards and Slainte! Nick from Old Worthy Brewing Co.

330ml bottle from Alko in Kotka, label looks matching to the picture, so is the abv and bbd is a year from now so I wonder if itís actually retired. Clear Amber colour, small frothy white mostly lasting head, lacing. Heavy slightly smoky hops with notes of honey and caramel, heavy orangey and slightly herbal hops. Taste is initially slightly sweet and a bit salty, turning into moderate to heavily bitter finish, with an astringent and slightly sour feel. Full body, oily texture, lively carbonation. A really interesting ale, loved the smoky aspect, good to find a beer from Skye worth drinking as the whiskey certainly is.

Smell of hops, citrus. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma of hops, base, citrus. Very flat carbon. Rather boring.

Its a bit all over the place this beer. Some great stuff going on, it smells great a butterscotch note to it, on the tongue you have a smoky-ness sweet honey and caramel some light summer fruits. But all the flavours kind of work against each other not work together a real pity

On tap at Guilford arms Edinburgh a light fruity pale some honey and citrus notes ballanced with bitterness of hops gives a nice bitter sweet beer however there is a distinct smokiness underlying giving a complexity to this beer

Bottled 500ml from Alko. Pale, clear amber color, small white head. Nose has light notes of diacetyl and wet smokey wood. Light to medium bodied. Light honeyish hoppyness, light notes of peaty smokeyness. Hints of diacetyl. Some harsh hoppyness in the short finish.

Yellow, very modest head. Citrus and herbs. Earthy and a bit smoky. Light bitterness. Somewhat hard to call this a "unique style", similar to a basic British ale. Quite light and not too interesting.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, 20131005) The beer poured golden an clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, English hops and a hint of peat at the beginning. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grassy hops, mildly peat, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A bit harsh and unbalanced brew. Not bad.

0.33l bottle. Orange brown with white head. Aroma has some grain and something I canít really recognize. Bitterness and some smoke. Not sure about this.
