COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our first beer and is our development of a unique Scottish Pale Ale style. Our goal is to create a beer that represents atypical Scottish flavours (peated malt / heather honey) in a refined and balanced way.

Old Worthy SPA is brewed to 5% ABV with Maris Otter winter barley, crystal malt, Scotch whisky distillery peat smoked malt and Highland heather honey. The result is a balanced and refreshing creamy ale with a biscuit maltiness, soft fruit hoppiness tempered with a rounded sweetness on the palate and then a soft lingering smokiness on the finish.

We have aimed to create a beer that is sessionable; and shareable with friends - and not wanted to be overboard on the peaty malt or create a super bitter finish - however based on current feedback we will be developing the hop balance further with the addition of Amarillo and hope that this will give a little extra special complexity.

Pours clear golden color with a large frothy head. Aroma of malts, faint hops and caramel. Some distant buttery notes as well. Flavor of caramel malts, mild fruity notes with some hay. Slick palate, sweetish malty finish. Not as bitter as I expected, soft carbonation. Decent but nothing special.

Aroma has grainy malt, honey, some grassy notes and slight smoke aromas – feels like a pale lager. Flavour has smoke, some woody notes, ash, peat, toffee and grain. Finishes with slight bun dough -like yeasty notes. Reminds me of some mildly smoked German lagers. Not worthy.

330 ml bottle. L2702. BB Aug/2014. (Alko) Espoo, Finland.
Clear deep golden colour with a tiny white head. Biscuit and caramel malt with some mild herbal notes in the aroma. The flavour is smoke, malt, mild herbal touch and mild dryness. Rather easy to forget. Probably the 40th best Scottish beer for me.

How wrong can I be? Out of 204 Scottish beers I’ve tasted this was #175. I somehow forgot that BrewDog is Scottish...

330 ml bottle @ Victory Pub aboard M/S Viking Amorella from Turku to Stockholm. Poured clear yellowish orange with a small white head. Mostly malty aroma with some woody tones and hint of grassy hops. The flavour is citric and flowery, but the malt is somewhat present as well. A dry, hoppy finish.

Body is moderate to full, malty and sweetish flavor, caramel and toffee, some fruitiness - light honey, faint roasted malt. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, caramel and some toffee, faint roasted malt and hoppyness. For those with sweet tooth.

Copper orange beer with a medium white head. Some lovely fruitiness in the aroma with a hint of grass. Nice medium bitter hops. Medium body. Good bitterness in the after taste but where is the smokiness? As a whisky lover I would have wanted even more of the peatiness. A very good and refreshing beer but not very complex though.

Pours a golden color with little dissipating white foam. Nose has honey and hops. Taste is sweet with malts, molasses and honey. Palate is lively. Leaves a bitter aftertaste. A decent drink.
