3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
[330ml bottle, review sample]
At first I wasnít getting much aroma wise, and only a very gentle hint of the smoke at the end of a mouthful, but as I let the beer warm up a bit, more appeared on the nose, and while still remaining refreshing, a lovely rounded peat and honey finish came out. My only gripe is that for a pale ale, I would like a little more hop character to be evident, just a little bite of bitterness before the sweet & smokey hints take over. But overall the subtleties were an asset in this beer, so if the hops stepped up just a little bit, I think it would be a beer of interesting balances.

Bottled 500ml from Alko. Pale, clear amber color, small white head. Nose has light notes of diacetyl and wet smokey wood. Light to medium bodied. Light honeyish hoppyness, light notes of peaty smokeyness. Hints of diacetyl. Some harsh hoppyness in the short finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Yellow, very modest head. Citrus and herbs. Earthy and a bit smoky. Light bitterness. Somewhat hard to call this a "unique style", similar to a basic British ale. Quite light and not too interesting.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle, 0.33 l, 20131005) The beer poured golden an clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, English hops and a hint of peat at the beginning. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grassy hops, mildly peat, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A bit harsh and unbalanced brew. Not bad.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Very sweet aroma, bucket loads of dark fruits, tells me itíll be a bit sticky. Very nice but perhaps over-smoked palate. Smokiness cuts through the stickiness of the sweetness. Do like the smoke, but the stickiness is too much. Feels a bit headier than 5% due to the sweetness.
