3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: Light aroma of rich coffee and roasted malts.
Appearance: Pours opaque brown-black with a thin mocha-brown head that quickly dissipates with mild lacing.
Taste: Dark roasted malt offers up strong coffee notes without much bitterness, fading into a gently mettallic minerality that reminds me of the scent of pine or cedar(!!) that manages to be quite pleasant. Strange, but pleasant. Definitely a beer that made me do a double-take on more than one sip, but in a good way.
Palate: Thin and silky, with only very little carbonation and a little bit of mid-tongue astringency. Finish is of dark roast malt, coffee notes, with only very mild bitterness, and a lingering hint of that pine/cedar at the roof of the mouth.
Overall: If you like stouts, this is a pretty damn good one, but it is *very* strange. Those pine/cedar notes would seem out of place in most beers, but this one carries itself with a steady balance that invites sip after (confused, delighted) sip. My co-taster suggests it reminds him of sipping a stout at an autumn campfire, and Iím inclined to agree.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A good solid stout with strong chocolate flavours accompanied by more subtle coffee. An impressive stout for such a small brewery. Dark brown, almost black with red tinges but a thinness in the palate is the one small weakness. Overall a very good stout.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Whet in Granville Island. Poured in a sleeve for measure and repoured into a small snifter for aroma. A pretty decent stout, with good notes of coffee and chocolate on the tongue. Not getting much nose, probably because the snifter is a bit tiny.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A well-balanced stout with a lot of great coffee and chocolate taste from the roast. Mouthfeel is a bit light for the breed, but it does serve to make for a very easy-drinking pint. It is in regular circulation in my beer fridge and definitely worth a try.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark blackish brown with a large beige head. The nose is bitter chocolate, coffee, and a touch of wood. The pallet is fairly light, almost like a Irish stout. Creamy Coffee and bitter chocolate.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep dark brown with massive brown head. Roasty aroma reflected in the flavour along with a good deal of chocolatey sweetness. Oatmeal provides this with some needed smoothness

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours thickly very near black with light brown head. Aromas of chocolate, chicory, roast. Very lively in the mouth, with chocolate/coffee leading the way but thereís a substantial fruitiness in behind. Very nicely balanced with lingering bitter (from hops+roast) finish. Smooth mouthfeel.
