Retorp (2148), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 The aroma is huge with lactose and chocolate, with a bit of coffee and roast. The body is full black and holds a thumb thick tan head. Coffee, light roast, milk chocolate and sweet lactose sugar. Not bad at all, but a little twangy.
GregClow (2299), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 16, 2008 Bottle. Jet black colour with a large dark tan head. Nice roasty aroma, very deep and layered, with notes of espresso, cocoa, and mild smoke. Thin body - a bit disappointing. Flavour is good, with the expected dark malt, coffee and cocoa, but not quite as complex as the aroma suggests. Still, it’s a good stout, quite enjoyable. beerbuzzmontreal (2674), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 15, 2008 Pours a deep black color with a thin, light brown head. The aroma has coacoa with mild lactose. Flavor of coacoa, mild lactose and roasted malt with a bitter finish. The body is light with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Glouglouburp (1876), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 10, 2007 In short: A thin flavourless stout. Boring.
How: Bottle 660ml. Drank fresh within a week of receiving it through private importation.
The look: Black body with a little tan ring of foam
In long: Nose is rather fruity with increasing roastiness as the beer warms up. Body is slightly watery with burnt malts flavour bordering ashes. Some slightly sour fruity notes. Some shy citrusy hops to balance the tired malts. The main thing about this beer (at least this batch/bottle) is that it is very light on flavours. Nothing bad, just very flavourless. I was told this is a good beer so I privately imported some at $10/bottle. Another made-up Sasquatch story? I’ll need reliable scientific evidence before I believe it is a good beer and buy another one.
